The Director IT Business Analytics will utilize the latest analytics tools along with efficient data management and automation technologies to provide rue21 with key business insights and automated reporting processes.  This role is pivotal in the strategic analytics roadmap, embracing key technology trends to support data initiatives and competitive advantage by creating a cohesive and flexible platform that will scale effectively to support future business growth.

This role requires a highly motivated, organized, and experienced professional, focused on business acumen, analytics, and technology solutions with a proven record of process automation.  The right candidate will be a strategic thinker who can serve as an effective translator between technical development teams and business users.

• Working with the business, strategically align the long-term strategy for the company’s analytics and reporting technology
• Assess the value of new enterprise analytics tools and technologies that will position the business for dynamic growth
• Provide break-fix and enhancement support for existing and future analytic tools, reports, and dashboards
• Motivate, lead and coach team members to increase their knowledge and performance
• Ensure the analytics team executes to near term and long-term roadmap deliverables
• Build a vision for how the team should be organized and what types of roles we will need to succeed
• Develop and maintain KPI’s for prioritized corporate metrics
• Identify and rectify operational problems
• Transform the business through technology, process improvement & business change management
• Lead the business requirements gathering process from concept to execution
• Facilitate the development of effective reporting processes and insightful analysis
• Plan and coordinate the rollout of new tools via training and documentation
• Quantify, track, and prioritize the business value of projects

• BS / BA, preferably in Business, Computer Science, or Information Systems
• 5+ years managing direct reports
• 7+ years in a highly analytical, results-driven environment; retail industry experience preferred
• Strong interest and intellectual curiosity about data, databases, and analytical modeling
• Proven experience managing complex projects with technical partners and the business
• Experience working with large, complex hierarchical data sets
• Experience designing enterprise data architecture and ETL processes
• Experience developing solutions in IBM Cognos 7.1+
• Experience with data analytics and visualization technologies
• Must have excellent communication skills at all levels of the organization
• Knowledge of relational and dimensional database structures, theories, principles, and practices
• Extensive knowledge of reporting processes and ability to work with/learn a variety of analytic tools
• Experience with working with Artificial Intelligence and Data Scientists
• Experience with cloud-based technologies
• Experience with Agile development and DevOps desired
• Have a proven record of delivering technology solutions within agreed upon budgets and timeframes
