Job Description
Summary:
The Stylist will be the principal stylist within rue21's in-house photography studio as well as on any campaign photography or videography project. The Stylist will be responsible for all styling needs for product photography, on-figure and on-table. This individual will be part of a collaborative team responsible for creating style standards for the rue21 brand. The Stylist will mentor a junior stylist, set and implement styling improvements and studio workflow efficiencies.
Responsibilities:
Dress models for daily ecommerce product photography and seasonal photo shoots
• Responsible for styling outfits for campaign and lifestyle shoots, obtaining final approval and preparing for shipment offsite as needed
• Following creative and brand standards, provide direction and approve fashion styling, hair and makeup styling and set and flat-lay styling
• Assist photographers in setting up and styling flat-lay shots for marketing, ecommerce and social media needs
• Mentor and train junior studio stylist
• Work with studio team to create workflow efficiencies to ensure best use of internal and external resources
• Work with merchant team and trend manager on product handovers to ensure timely delivery, sufficient quantity of items, category representation and product flow dates
• Work with creative and social media teams to produce content for emails, website, marketing and social media needs. Manage request process and approve products and imagery
• Work with Producer to plan weekly studio schedule including freelance bookings
• Work with Creative Director, VP of Marketing and Merchant team to set style standards for the brand
• Work with Junior Stylist to develop and execute brand style guide
• Stay ahead of current fashion trends, colors, styling trends, beauty trends and photography trends. Build monthly trends boards and present to studio team
• Work with merchant team to understand upcoming trends, buying inspiration and product flow
• Attend best seller meetings and floor sets, apply learnings in-studio
Qualifications
1-3 years of experience styling in a commercial photography environment with a combination of apparel (lay downs and on figure) and tabletop styling
• Strong online portfolio that demonstrates expertise in applied styling techniques for both still-life product photography and on-body photography
• Knowledge of apparel on-body styling techniques across the industry and in various fashion categories, with attention to tailoring and fit
• A superb eye for style, visual composition and attention to detail
• Ability to operate independently while establishing strong working relationships with co-workers and cross-functional teams
• Ability to adapt well to change in direction and priority in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
• Strong, professional and effective verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, and presentation skills
• Ability to foster a positive and motivating work environment, encouraging feedback and innovation
• Strong proven experience with on-set standards, traditions, and demands and attention to emerging trends/brands
• Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and deadlines
• Associates Degree in Fashion, Merchandising, Marketing or related field preferred
• Ability to lift at least 30 lbs.
• Flexibility to work some weekends and irregular hours
