Job Description

What will you do? 

     The Senior Benefits Specialist will serve as an internal expert on all benefits and leave programs and works closely with the benefits broker and providers to design and implement plans, resolve eligibility issues, administers company leaves and escalates service and or claim issues on behalf of the associates. This role utilizes independent judgment to ensure the effective daily administration of all employee benefit and leave programs. The Senior Benefits Specialist maintains current knowledge of regulatory requirements to ensure benefit and leave programs comply with applicable plans, policies, programs and regulations. This position will support the Distribution Center, Field and Support Center.

 

·         Daily administration of the company’s health and welfare plans, including medical, dental, vision, life, FSA, COBRA, ACA, or any company benefit plan offerings. 

  • Administers the enrollment of rue21 employee associates in various company benefits and assures the timely review and processing of information related to benefits enrollments, deductions, coverage amounts, qualifying events, and other coverage related information.  
  • Maintains close communication with rue21 associates regarding insurance changes and educate associates on utilization of health coverage, leaves and other benefit related items 
  • Manages the day-to-day vendor relationships
  • Ensures timely completion and submission of required reports and audits (i.e. Form 5500s) including providing data to consultants and auditors for testing and preparation of reports
  • Will analyze eligibility, participation, and utilization of all benefits on a regular basis. Uses data to monitor trends and provides recommendations
  •  Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all benefits and leave information in the HRIS Benefits systems, and AbsenceSoft Tracking System
  • Coordination and administration of the company’s leave of absence programs including FMLA, Non-FMLA Leave, Leave and other forms of Leave. 
  • Administers leaves as an accommodation and partners with key business leaders in the organization to ensure compliance, open communication during all ADA requests/accommodations. 
  • Coordinates with Payroll any Team Member benefit deduction variances.   
  • Collaborate with the necessary internal and external customers on leave issues, investigations, claim status and appropriate rights and responsibilities
  • Receive, update and reconcile all vendor billing reports and check requests for payment.
  • Deliver benefits presentations during orientation and annual open enrollment meetings.  
  • Develop, update & maintain the various benefit communications and guidelines  
  • Creates payment authorizations related to benefit(s) plans and submits them for approval. 
  • Work with high volumes of confidential information in a professional manner.

Qualifications

  • ·         6+ years’ Human Resources experience within benefits and leave administration
  • ·         Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field required; PHR/SPHR certification and/or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation preferred 
  • ·         Plan strategy and design experience a plus
  • ·         Working knowledge of benefits related regulations, including IRS code section 125, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, ACA
  • ·         Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of state and federal benefit laws and regulations 
  • ·         Prior HRIS reporting experience 
  • ·         Prior experience with ADP EV5, and ADP HWSE preferred 
  • ·         High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook) & Internet applications 
  • ·         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • ·         Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • ·         Demonstrated ability to bring programs from concept to successful implementation
  • ·         Leads by example: accuracy, excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize, coordinate and simultaneously maintain multiple projects with high level of quality and productivity.
  • ·         Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
  • ·         Excellent written & verbal communication skills: ability to present to groups of people as well as discuss complex ideas interpersonally
  • ·         Initiative – able to identify what needs to be done and doing it before being asked or before the situation requires it.
