Job Description

The Senior Lease Accountant provides support to the Accounting Department in the areas of lease accounting/lease analyst, month end close, general ledger management, journal entry postings, corporate forecasting and budgeting as well as special projects as assigned. This position is responsible the following accounting areas:

  1. Occupancy
  2. Lease accounting under ASC 840 (Current Accounting Rules)
  3. Lease Accounting under ASC 842 (New Accounting Rules)
  4. Assist with Real Estate proforma analysis

This position is responsible for coordinating tasks with the lease compliance team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with month-end, quarterly, and annual closing processes including footnotes to the financial statements.
  • Analyze financial transactions and ensure that they are appropriately recorded in the general ledger
  • Prepare and review journal entries
  • Conduct general ledger account analysis
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations of general ledger accounts
  • Prepare operating expense budgets
  • Assist with corporate budgeting and forecasting
  • Complete special projects as assigned
  • Assist with Real Estate deal analysis for portfolio development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
  • At least 3+ years of experience in an accounting role related to lease accounting required
  • Retail accounting experience is a plus
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications, Accruent leasing software is a plus
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, and presentation skills
  • Ability to operate independently while establishing strong working relationships with co-workers and cross-functional teams
  • Strong, professional and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to foster a positive and motivating work environment, encouraging feedback and innovation
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and deadlines
  • Ability to adapt well to change in direction and priority in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
