  • Full-time

Job Description

Renesas is looking for an experienced Senior Manager, Industrial Engineering & Planning to lead capacity, throughput, and production planning for our Penang site, one of Renesas' key back-end assembly and test facilities supporting automotive, industrial, and IoT semiconductor products. This role turns customer demand into executable plans, removes bottlenecks, and drives the productivity and cost improvements that keep the site competitive in a fast-moving semiconductor market.

The Senior Manager is a critical link between Sales, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Equipment, and Quality, translating corporate goals into capacity plans and factory-floor improvements, and escalating constraints and investment needs that require leadership attention.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own capacity planning, the master production schedule, and loading plans against demand forecasts, balancing WIP, cycle time, and on-time delivery.
  • Lead bottleneck analysis and drive OEE, UPH, utilization, and X-factor improvements across assembly and test lines.
  • Lead a team of industrial engineers, planners, and analysts, building bench strength and succession depth.
  • Run S&OP and capacity review cycles with Sales, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing, managing hot lots, priorities, and subcontractor loading.
  • Own factory layout, line balancing, standard times, and equipment ratios for new lines, tool installs, and relocations.
  • Build simulation and what-if models (DES, Little's Law) to support capex justification and expansion decisions.
  • Drive continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to reduce cost, scrap, and downtime.
  • Lead the automation roadmap (AMHS, robotics, auto-handling) with clear ROI and manufacturing readiness for NPI and technology transfer.
  • Own planning and scheduling systems (MES, APS, dispatching rules) and promote AI, analytics, and digitalization in factory operations.
  • Report site-level KPIs (OEE, cycle time, delivery, productivity, cost) to senior leadership and drive corrective actions for gaps.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Electrical/Electronic, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. Master's degree or MBA is a plus.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in semiconductor or high-volume electronics manufacturing, with at least 3 years managing people.
  • Strong working knowledge of semiconductor operations (assembly, test, and/or wafer fab), including SEMI E10 tool states, WIP, and cycle time management.
  • Proven record in capacity planning, bottleneck management, and measurable productivity improvement at factory level.
  • Demonstrated success driving Lean/Six Sigma initiatives with measurable cost, yield, or throughput gains.
  • Hands-on experience with MES, APS/scheduling, and data tools (SQL, Power BI/Tableau, Python or similar).
  • Proven people-leadership track record in hiring, developing, and retaining engineering and planning talent.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with simulation tools (e.g., AutoMod, FlexSim, Simul8).
  • Experience with automotive-grade standards and customer qualification (IATF 16949, PPAP, APQP, PCN).
  • Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems; S&OP or APICS (CPIM/CSCP) experience.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean certification.
  • Experience leading automation, site expansion, or Industry 4.0 initiatives, ideally in a global, matrixed organization.
