Job Description

This position will provide routine health and personal care services for residents living in a residential group home.  Will work under the supervision of a licensed vocational nurse.

Job Duties including but not limited to

  • Provide routine home health care including medication reminders to residents (as directed), taking basic vitals, assistance with activities of daily living, and bathing/hygiene.
  • Provide personal care to residents such as cooking (according to dietary restrictions), keeping rooms orderly and seeing that residents are comfortable and in good spirits.
  • Promote positive relationships with and between residents, staff members, resident family members, facility vendors and management. 
  • Adhere to state and industry licensing regulations including compliance with resident care, medical records, sanitation requirements and safety inspections.
  • Maintain records of resident care, condition, progress, or problems to report and discuss observations with the Residence Manager or registered nurse.
  • Move residents in and out of beds, baths, wheelchairs, or automobiles.
  • Assist residents with daily activities and prescribed exercises and physical therapy.
  • Maintain good housekeeping including resident laundry and general cleaning.
  • Interact daily with residents to keep them mentally healthy and alert.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years caregiving experience, preferably with basic geriatric and dementia care
  • Attention to detail with accuracy, thoroughness and timeliness
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (English/Spanish)
  • Ability to understand medication instructions and follow direction
  • Ability to read/write progress notes and complete safety checklists
  • Insurable driving record and reliable transportation
  • Ability to obtain Alzheimer's Disease Certification
  • Ability to obtain Positive Approach to Care Certification
  • Ability to obtain Music and Memory Certification

Additional Information

  • Frequenting lifting of up to 40# at or below shoulder level
  • Regular sitting, bending, stooping, reaching and stretching
  • Fine motor skill use of fingers, elbows, arms and shoulders
