RBNY’s First Team plays its home matches at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey and its Second Team plays its home matches at Montclair State University. RBNY are owned by the Austrian beverage company Red Bull GmbH, after which the team is named.
RBNY’s First Team is a three-time MLS Supporters’ Shield winner and a two-time Conference Champion, while the Second Team is the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Champion. RBNY also operates one of the nation’s premier youth soccer development programs, spanning local partnerships across New York and New Jersey. Purpose of this Internship
Red Bull New York are seeking a motivated college student to join our Finance team, with a focus on financial planning and analysis (FP&A). This internship offers an excellent learning opportunity for students who are passionate about developing their financial management skills within the sports industry.
The intern will gain hands-on experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, while developing an understanding of how FP&A collaborates with various departments to drive strategic decision-making. You will assist with financial modeling, budget analysis, and revenue and expense tracking to support the club’s financial operations and overall business objectives.
This is an unpaid, for-credit internship (proof of academic credit is required). We are looking for a student who can commit 4 days per week during normal business hours. Some flexibility around game days or events may be required.
Job Description
Understand financial reporting processes within a professional sports organization and events venue.
Assist in preparing monthly financial reports, variance analyses, and dashboards for internal stakeholders.
Support the development, tracking, and maintenance of department budgets and forecasts.
Learn how to interpret financial statements (primarily the P&L) and analyze revenue, expense, and CapEx trends.
Conduct ad hoc analysis to support business decisions, such as evaluating event performance or cost-saving opportunities.
Gain exposure to cross-functional collaboration by supporting Finance in its work with departments such as Marketing, Ticketing, Partnerships, and Operations.
Develop professional communication skills by presenting findings in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in written form.
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, or a related field of study.
Detail-oriented and a strong problem-solver with solid analytical abilities and intellectual curiosity.
Demonstrated positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills; able to effectively collaborate and interact with others at all levels of the organization.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, stay organized, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with pivot tables, lookups, and other complex formulas is helpful but not mandatory.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Willingness to learn, take feedback, and ask questions to deepen your understanding of finance in the sports industry.
Additional Information
Because of the cyclical nature of the entertainment industry, your assigned hours may vary to reflect our needs (includes nights and weekends). You are expected to work all home games throughout the internship.
