Red Bull New York (“RBNY”) are one of 30 teams in Major League Soccer (MLS) and one of the league’s ten original charter clubs. Founded in 1996, RBNY has competed in MLS since its inception. RBNY’s First Team plays its home matches at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey and its Second Team plays its home matches at Montclair State University. RBNY are owned by the Austrian beverage company Red Bull GmbH, after which the team is named.

RBNY’s First Team is a three-time MLS Supporters’ Shield winner and a two-time Conference Champion, while the Second Team is the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Champion. RBNY also operates one of the nation’s premier youth soccer development programs, spanning local partnerships across New York and New Jersey. RBNY’s Academy is ranked among the top development organizations in the country.

The Communications Assistant will manage all communications and media relations needs surrounding Red Bull New York II, our MLS NEXT Pro affiliate, and Red Bulls Academy. The position will handle all media operations for RBNY II matches at MSU Soccer Park and also assist with first-team matches when applicable. They will create and distribute all press releases surrounding both affiliates and also create weekly media assets. The role will interface with RBNY II players and Academy players. This role will assist in working with our non-English speaking first-team players.

Job Description

COMMUNICATIONS & MEDIA RELATIONS

Manage all communications and media relations needs surrounding New York Red Bulls II and Red Bulls Academy.

Lead on all MLS NEXT Pro and Academy announcements.

Work with New York Red Bulls II Head Coach and players to prepare them for all media obligations.

Lead and execute weekly media availabilities.

Facilitate interviews with Academy staff.

 

MEDIA OPERATIONS

Manage media operations for all matches at MSU Soccer Park.

Handle all credentials requests for media and broadcast.

Manage press seating for all events.

Interface with journalists and photographers.

Oversee gameday staff employees on matchdays.

 

MEDIA GUIDE CREATION & GAME NOTES

Creating New York Red Bulls II media guide and weekly game notes.

Create and publish full season NYRB II media guide ahead of each season.

Update weekly games notes package ahead of each match. -

player biographies on club’s website on a weekly basis.

 

SOCIAL MEDIA

Manage social media platforms revolving around New York Red Bulls II.

Work with Manager, Brand and Content to create social media strategy around New York Red Bulls II.

Create content ideas to execute with New York Red Bulls II players.

Manage the day-to-day of RBNY II social media platforms to ensure content is posted on a consistent basis.

 

TRANSLATION SUPPORT

Assist with translation services of our non-English speaking players.

Provide translation during interview requests, content pieces, etc.

Qualifications

1+ year of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field

Strong interest in sports, media, and soccer

Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign (or willingness to learn)

Experience supporting communications efforts involving athletes or sports organizations is a plus

Ability to assist with drafting and distributing press releases and media pitches

Familiarity with the New York media landscape preferred

Willingness to support matchday staffing and event operations at Red Bull Arena

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and select holidays as needed

Fluency in English required; Spanish proficiency preferred

Willingness to travel up to 25%

Due to the cyclical nature of the entertainment industry, the employee may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the company.

The base rate for this position is $23 per hour. Actual offers may vary based on work experience. The base pay is subject to change and may be modified.
