Company Description

We are looking for a passionate Editorial Partnerships Journalist to help our Monetisation and Growth team deliver content which informs, inspires and indulges our readers across a variety of platforms such as Google Showcase, Apple News, WhatsApp, Facebook and more.

You will find and manage content that will be highlighted across the majority of Reach PLC titles, from The Mirror and Express to the Manchester Evening News and dozens more. Our Showcase panels are read by tens of millions of people every month and is one of the fastest growing areas in digital publishing today, and we want you to join us to help us continue to grow.

About us

Hello, we’re Reach. Every day, our trusted news, stories and content connect with millions of people where they live - whether that’s on their social feed or at their neighbourhood newsstand; through their local community or their take on the hot topic of the day.

We're home to more than 120 trusted brands - from household names like the Mirror, Express, Daily Star and Daily Record, to local titles like the Manchester Evening News, MyLondon, BelfastLive and brands making a splash in the US like the Irish Star.

It's our ability to understand people and the things that matter to them that makes us the UK and Ireland's largest commercial news publisher. We reach 70% of the UK's online population and speak to over 100 million social followers around the world. And we’re just getting started…

Your story, with Reach

As a modern media organisation, we're much more than just news. And it takes a wide range of people and skills to serve diverse audiences, customers and communities like we do.

We know everyone has their own story to tell, so we’ve built an environment where every background is respected and every day is a day to explore.

We’ll help you build a career that works with your life, while giving you the space to create and grow.

This is a maternity cover role initially for 9 - 12 months.

This role is home based and we are therefore open to candidates based across the UK.

What will the role involve?

You will decide which stories to promote and when to schedule them to maximise audience reach, selecting the most effective formats for curated pieces. You will respond decisively to breaking news and work across a variety of platforms quickly and efficiently. You will publish content online to the highest standard, ensuring Reach digital publishing standards are met, IPSO guidelines are upheld, and every piece is legally sound. You will drive follower growth across all our titles through the platforms including but not limited to Google Showcase, Apple News, WhatsApp and Facebook.

Though you will not be sourcing and writing stories yourself, you will have a keen news sense and the ability to spot which stories to promote and push across various platforms. You will bring strong digital publishing skills, a passion for digital storytelling, and excellent communication abilities with the capability to cascade consistent messages for maximum impact. This role includes shift and weekend working, this will typically involve 1 weekend in every three, so a flexible approach is required.

Who are we looking for?

You are an NCTJ qualified journalist (or time served equivalent), with proven digital newsroom experience. You have a good working knowledge of Google Showcase, Apple News, WhatsApp and Facebook and an understanding of the audiences each platform appeals to most. You stay up to date with new emerging social and news platforms and can adapt to changing trends.

You have an excellent news sense and the ability to work quickly, knowing which stories to choose to promote across specific platforms. You are curious about how third party platforms play their part in the overall success of news brands. You ideally have experience with push notifications and are passionate about keeping audiences informed.
