Job Purpose:

The main purpose of the 3rd Officer’s job is to supervise and control and ensure watch keeping of the vessel deck 

Accountabilities:

• Ensures that the bridge is operated in accordance with all applicable regulations and company policies, during all prevailing circumstances and conditions
• During the watch adheres to the emergency procedures and monitors bridge equipment and watertight doors status
• Updates the various bridge logs - Bridge Log Book, Garbage Log Book, Ballast Log, etc.
• While the ship is in port, observes gangways, supervises the moorings and is aware of any significant work in progress as well as monitors the in-port manning duties 
• Responsible for the ship's stability system during the watch
• Promotes and disseminates a positive health and safety culture and ensures the health, safety and welfare of self and others
• Ensures employee health and safety programs and guidelines are developed, regularly maintained, implemented and complied with
• Identifies any Health, Safety or Environmental risks and recommends and implements measures and solutions to mitigate these risks
• Performs miscellaneous tasks as assigned by his/her direct Manager

• STCW-95 approved 2nd Engineer unlimited Certificate of Competency is a must
• 1 year experience as a deck officer on board ships
• Degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering from accredited maritime school or equivalent
• Previous experience in the GCC is a plus, especially if the experience was in Saudi Arabia
• English fluency is a must; Arabic language is a plus
