Job Description
- Lead the delivery and mobilisation of Qantas Group’s emergency response and operational resilience capabilities, ensuring readiness across all AOCs and business functions.
- Drive crisis management, business continuity, response planning and resilience programs that enable effective preparation, response and recovery from operational disruptions.

The Senior Manager Emergency Response Planning & Resilience Delivery plays a critical role in ensuring the Qantas Group is prepared to effectively respond to and recover from operational disruptions and crisis events. This role is responsible for strengthening and mobilising resilience capabilities across all group functions, translating resilience strategies into practical operational readiness.
Leading the end-to-end resilience preparedness program, you will oversee Crisis Management Team (CMT) readiness and activation, emergency response planning, business continuity, humanitarian and family assistance programs, and training and exercise initiatives. Working closely with stakeholders across the Group, you will drive capability deployment, coordinate response activation when required, and ensure lessons learned are embedded through robust post-incident reviews and continuous improvement activities.
Key to success in this role is the ability to build organisational readiness, foster a culture of resilience, and ensure the Qantas Group maintains the capability and operational discipline required to respond confidently to complex and evolving challenges.
You'll have:
- 10+ years’ experience in emergency response, crisis management, or operational resilience, with a proven track record leading real-world incident responses in aviation, transport emergency services, or other safety critical environments.
- Demonstrated experience as an Emergency Response or Crisis Management leader within a regulated operational environment.
- Tertiary qualifications in Aviation Management, Emergency Management, Business Resilience, or a related discipline, with relevant professional certifications highly regarded.
- Extensive expertise in crisis management and emergency response activation, including command, coordination, and decision making during high-impact events.
- Strong knowledge of emergency response planning, crisis management frameworks, humanitarian and family assistance obligations, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven experience designing, facilitating, and evaluating large-scale resilience exercises, including simulations and cross-functional emergency response programs.
- Experience leading large teams and volunteer workforces, including capability development, training, rostering, deployment, and performance management.
- Strong leadership capability, with the ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively coordinate multiple stakeholders during critical incidents.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across operational teams, airports, emergency services, government agencies, and industry partners.
- Demonstrated resilience, sound judgement, and professionalism, with the ability to manage sensitive situations and deliver outcomes in complex, fast paced environments.
