At Qantas Freight, we operate one of the most comprehensive air freight networks in Australia and internationally, combining dedicated freighter aircraft, passenger belly capacity, and terminal operations. We are now seeking a Senior Manager Commercial & Strategy - Freight to shape the future of our Freight business and drive long-term growth.
This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for defining and delivering the commercial and strategic agenda for Qantas Freight. Reporting to the Head of Planning & Performance, you will lead the strategy, transformation pipeline, and major commercial initiatives—working closely with the Freight Leadership Team to drive enterprise wide outcomes.
You’ll bring structured thinking, commercial acumen, and strong influence to guide decision making across a complex and high profile portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of Freight’s strategy, including translating market insights into clear, actionable priorities
- Own and drive the strategic pipeline, including business cases, governance submissions, and delivery of key initiatives
- Identify and deliver growth opportunities across fleet, network, terminal, and digital investments
- Partner across the Qantas Group (e.g. Network, Engineering, Finance, Operations) to influence outcomes and optimise business performance
- Provide thought leadership on market trends, competitor activity, and strategic opportunities
- Lead and develop a high-performing Commercial & Strategy team
What You’ll Bring:
- Significant experience in a strategy or commercial role
- Proven ability to lead complex strategy development and translate insights into actionable outcomes
- Strong commercial acumen, including experience in contract management
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing capability across senior leadership levels
- Experience leading teams and delivering through cross-functional environments
- Ability to structure complex problems and synthesise insights into compelling narratives
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline preferred
