Job Description
We are seeking experienced Infrastructure Engineer willing to relocate to or currently located in Brussels, Belgium.
- Infrastructure Design: Create both High-Level and Detailed Technical Designs that encompass all necessary infrastructure components (e.g., processing power, network segmentation, security principles, monitoring, backup, and restore) and lead to successful implementation.
- System Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and manage Server Operating Systems (Windows and/or Linux) while ensuring proper interaction with other infrastructure elements such as file shares, LDAP, service accounts, and certificates.
- Security Hardening: Apply security hardening techniques across all layers (hardware, OS, middleware) following industry frameworks (e.g., CIS guidelines) to ensure the solution meets security standards.
- Documentation: Prepare detailed documentation of technical specifications, infrastructure design materials, and operational procedures for future reference and handover.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate and negotiate with stakeholders (e.g., ICT Security, Governance, Data Protection, Operations, and Project Management teams) to ensure alignment on design and implementation strategies.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in designing, implementing, and securing infrastructure solutions while interacting with a wide range of stakeholders.
Key Requirements:
- Language Level:
- Mandatory: Working knowledge of English (B2 or higher)
Technical Expertise:
Design and Implementation:
- Mandatory: 3 years of experience creating Technical Designs (High-Level and Detailed), leading to actual implementation (covering processing power, network segmentation, security principles like least access, monitoring, backup and restore).
- Proven ability to present and defend solutions to stakeholders of varying profiles (business, technical, and management).
Operating Systems Installation and Configuration:
- Mandatory: 5 years of experience in the installation and configuration of Server Operating Systems (Windows and/or Linux), including interaction with infrastructure (e.g., File shares with CIFS/SMB and NFS, secure LDAP integration, Public Key Certificates, Service Accounts, APIs, etc.).
Security Hardening:
- Mandatory: 2 years of experience adapting infrastructure designs and applying/devising security hardening across all solution layers (hardware, OS, middleware) using well-known frameworks (e.g., CIS guidelines).
Documentation and Procedures:
- Mandatory: 3 years of experience documenting technical specifications (e.g., deployment views, server and network specifications), as well as operational procedures for infrastructure setups.
Stakeholder Negotiation:
- Mandatory: 3 years of experience negotiating on a technical level with stakeholders (ICT Security, Governance, Data Protection, ICT Operations, Project Management, etc.), incorporating the results into design deliverables.
Implementation and Leadership (Desirable):
- 3 years of experience in leading and coordinating an ICT Operational team to implement infrastructure designs, with hands-on troubleshooting of components and technologies.
Cost Calculation (Desirable):
- 2 years of experience calculating the Total Cost of Ownership for infrastructure designs.
Professional Knowledge:
Technical Design:
- Mandatory: In-depth knowledge of creating and implementing both High-Level and Detailed Technical Designs.
Windows/Linux Server Expertise:
- Mandatory: Strong experience in the implementation and configuration of Windows and/or Linux Server Operating Systems, with interaction with broader infrastructure (e.g., file shares, secure LDAP, service accounts, APIs).
Security Hardening Knowledge:
- Mandatory: Solid knowledge in implementing security hardening for operating systems, applications, or devices, using frameworks such as CIS guidelines, and the ability to troubleshoot issues arising from these implementations.
Authentication and Encryption (Desirable):
- Knowledge of configuring application servers to use different authentication systems, encryption for traffic, file access, and database access. Ability to troubleshoot issues at the individual component level and system-wide.
