Job Description
As part of the Branch Leadership team, this two (2) year leadership opportunity as the Assistant Branch Manager, in conjunction with the Branch Manager, will influence and execute the business plans for their branch. This role will oversee the implementation of business goals and objectives for branch operations and be accountable to achieve them through the Leadership of their team. This will include an understanding of branch operations, lending, deposits, investments, wealth, small business and Member Experience while ensuring both security and safety in accordance with PenFinancial’s strategic objectives. The ABM will build, lead and coach a team focused on elevating exceptional Member Experience and achieving annual financial, Member experience objectives and organization growth.
Differentiating Accountabilities (Duties may vary by branch location and size):
Branch Operations:
- Working with the Branch Manager, support the overall branch operation including managing the facilities, controlling expenses through the application of internal checks and balances, operating budgets, developing and executing initiatives set out in the strategic plan.
- Along with Branch Manager, responsible for all risk controls and audit functions to ensure the branch is compliant with policies and procedures. Lead the accurate, compliant, and timely administration for the branch – “first time right”.
- Lead the adherence to all procedures for cash management and branch opening and closing. Review and analyse financial statements, system generated reports on a regular basis to ensure compliance and prepare and submit branch reports as directed.
Business Development:
- Develop a suite of “centers of influence” outside the branch in order to support referrals and business development activity.
- Seek business development opportunities through reach out and in person connections to grow and develop membership within the branch.
- Ensure sound loan and mortgage decisions within discretionary limits and as appropriate, selling and cross selling credit union loan insurance products through the education of Members.
- Support quality investment advice and identify the appropriate solution including registered and non-registered term deposits, TFSAs, mutual funds, and wealth solutions that fit and meet the Members’ needs. Ensure referral of more complex investment service needs to our Wealth Management team as required.
People Leadership:
- Manage performance of direct reports including training, coaching, feedback, and performance reviews.
- Coaches and develops the team on all aspects of a successful Member Experience, through ongoing feedback and leading by example.
- Identify training needs for employees and develop plan to close the gap.
Personal Development and Readiness:
- Continuously evolve in leadership to be ready for future opportunities at any branch location.
- Travel to all branch locations on an as needed basis to cover absences of a Branch Manager or a temporary organizational need.
Perform other assigned responsibilities
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in finance, business, or related program
- PFP or CFP designation is required;
- Continually meet educational requirements to maintain designation.
- Mutual Funds license under MFDA is required
- 5+ years working in banking, with increasing levels of responsibility.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong communication and relationship building skills.
- Experience handling complex member situations.
- Strong focus on continuous improvement, while maintaining emphasis on organizational goals
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments in the achievement of goals
- Adaptive during branch changes and coverage needs
- Experience mentoring and coaching future talent
Target Salary: $75,127
Salary Range: $70,708 - $88,385
Salary will be determined based on skills, experience, education and other qualifications relevant to this position.
