Job Description

Passion for Life (P4L) The mission of Passion for Life is to help high school students identify their passions and talents, and help them create a plan to turn them into rewarding careers.

Passion for Life, Inc. is seeking experienced and influential professionals, with a commitment to grow and expand the impact of the organization. Our ideal board candidate is a person that is solution focused and a doer!

The board ensures that the organization is fiscally responsible, accountable and sustainable. In addition to policy and governance, board members will leverage their network and contacts for the furthering of the organization's mission and to raise funds for the operating budget of the organization.

Strategic Leadership and Planning:

  • Work in conjunction with the Executive Director, board and committee to create, develop and maintain financial management strategies Lead a collaborative team of up to 4 committee members to ideate, prioritize, develop and implement a comprehensive strategy and polices or the Financial compliance of Passion for Life, Inc.

  • Development: Responsible for building a team to develop plans to create internal policies and procedures to support all areas associated with finance and administration. Specific focus to include, but not limited to: finance, business planning and budgeting.

  • Budget and Financial Administration:  Ensure that the appropriate monthly or quarterly financial statements are reviewed by the board. Ensure that government tax filings and remittances are submitted on a timely basis. Ensure that the organization maintains the appropriate financial books and records and that these are accurate and up-to-date.

  • Implementation:  Will lead and provide guidance of team to assist with the execution of creating financial policies, implementing plans, educating committees and volunteers, and organization stakeholders.

    • Works with the Executive Director in preparing the annual budget and presenting to the Board for approval

    • Works with the Executive Director and finance committee to ensure that appropriate financial reports are made available to the Board on a timely basis Oversees the development of Fiscal Policies for recommendation to the Board 

    • Ensures that the financial policy and procedure manual is complete and compliant

    • Partners with the Fundraising committees to ensure appropriate management and tracking of grants and as well as ensure contracts are accounted for in accordance with the requirements of funders

Responsibilities:

It is important that the candidate understands how much time it takes to serve on the Passion for Life, Inc. board.  Aside from regular meetings, board members are expected to participate in one committee or project and participate in the fundraising events and initiatives.

Attend monthly board meetings (3rd Saturday of the month).  Attend and lead and actively participate in committee meetings /calls or lead specific projects (5-10 hours a week).

 Term: 2 years 

Board Dues: Board Members are required to pay annual dues

 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  •  Finance (CPA or Banking), Event Planning
  •  Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. Master's preferred.
  •  10 plus years in strategic financial leadership

Additional Qualifications

  • Prior Board or volunteer experience preferred

Time Commitment: 10 - 20 hours a month
