Who We Are

This role is remote, but distance is no barrier to impact. Our hybrid teams collaborate across geographies to solve big problems, stay close to our customers, and grow together. You will be part of a culture that values trust, accountability, and shared success where your work truly matters.

Job Description

Your Career

The Professional Services Consultant is an integral part of our mission-focused Professional Services team. You will function as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Palo Alto Networks solutions, providing essential on-site and remote deployment and configuration expertise to our most critical clients. This highly technical, hands-on role requires you to maintain expert-level skills on our products and provide technical leadership, direction, and adherence to best practices.

As a consultant, you'll dive deep into our platform, pushing the buttons, flipping the levers, and turning the knobs, to secure customer environments. While extensive experience with a competitor’s technology can play to your advantage, a solid foundation in networking and security technologies is equally as important as many engagements involve migrating clients to our platform for the first time.

Your Impact

You will be the technical authority interacting directly with customer personnel and project teams, responsible for both implementation and mentoring customer staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and implement new architectures leveraging our security products and services, and migrate customers from legacy hardware onto Palo Alto Networks platforms.

  • Create custom security policies and application signatures for unique client environments.

  • Implement network segment controls in accordance with established frameworks, such as NIST and RMF.

  • Troubleshoot integration issues, perform debug analysis, and mitigate threat events.

  • Maintain implemented solutions and provide mentorship on code upgrades, platform changes, and new technology developments.

  • Validate and implement proof of concepts (POCs) in lab environments.

  • Provide technical implementation and strategy support, communicating effectively from engineering teams to C-suite executives.

  • Work with our Technical Assistance Center (TAC) to troubleshoot and diagnose complex cases as escalations arise.

Qualifications

Your Experience

We are looking for a highly experienced consultant with a solid foundation in both networking and next-generation security technologies.

Core Technical Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with network and security solutions and technologies, including routing and switching, security appliances, virtual machines, and hypervisors.

  • 3+ years of experience in maintaining security solutions in large-scale production environments.

  • Must have expertise deploying or operating two or more of the following:

    • Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW)

    • VM Series (AWS and/or Azure)

    • Prisma Access / Prisma Access Browser

  • Strong skills in Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) routing and TCP/IP networking. Comfortable implementing OSPF, IPSec VPN, and NAT.

  • Experience with classified transport networks and cloud providers, including AWS, GCP, or Azure. Strong understanding of VM/Public Cloud concepts.

  • Experience with IDS/IPS solutions and technologies.

  • Detailed technical experience in the installation, configuration, and operation of high-end firewall appliances, including NGFW policy optimization, PAN-OS installation, and High Availability (HA) troubleshooting.

  • Proficient in designing, implementing and troubleshooting network issues across LAN, CAN, and WAN.

Key Competencies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders and technical peers.

  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and drive organizations and resources to complete required tasks.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, business, or equivalent education/training/experience.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% annually for customer engagements, site visits, or project support

Nice-to-Have

Experience with one of the following:

  • Cloud Security Assessment and Broker (CSAB)
  • Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
  • PAN-OS SD-WAN
  • Internet of Things (IoT)
  • Strata Cloud Manager (SCM)

Experience with automation and scripting for security deployments.

Clearance Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship (required for security clearance eligibility)
  • Active U.S. Security Clearance required at time of application
