Our Graduate Development Programme  

Our 24-month Graduate Development Programme (GDP) provides you with a structured learning environment to help you become a well-rounded consultant and accelerate your career.

The GDP starts with a formal induction, giving you the opportunity to start building your internal networks and deepen your understanding of Turner & Townsend and your service area.

On joining you will be provided with a structured development plan which introduces you to the key business, technical and commercial competencies graduates need to succeed at Turner & Townsend. This gives you the necessary tools to manage and monitor your personal and professional development and progress. Throughout the programme you will be partnered with a Graduate Development Manager who will provide support and guidance to ensure you are on track.

As well as ‘on-the-job' learning, you will benefit from technical and behavioural training, providing you with the knowledge and skills to support you in your personal development. Alongside this you will be given the opportunity to pursue professional qualifications with organisations such as RICS, APM, CMI, IMEA, ICE and CIOB (depending on your technical discipline).

The GDP provides:

  • A platform to enhance knowledge and gain first-hand experience; 
  • A plan to support and capture your learning and development needs and achievements; and,  
  • The tools to track and report your personal development. 

Job Description

We have a rapidly growing dedicated Sustainability & Net Zero team that sits within our Advisory business that is providing independent advice to help make business and organisations investments a success.

It is a fantastic time to join Turner & Townsend as a graduate on the Sustainability GDP to start your career in this highly sought-after industry. You will be learning the technical and consulting skills on the job, help advising clients how to plan, prepare and deliver on multiple sustainability challenges, ranging from developing carbon reduction roadmaps for global corporate organisations, leading nation-wide housing energy retrofitting programmes, curating innovative strategies for specific environmental challenges.

The sustainability programme gives every graduate multiple opportunities to work for incredible clients across a wide range of sectors, including housing, corporate real estate, defence, infrastructure, energy, central and local government, education, healthcare, and many more. Throughout the 24 month programme, a graduate consultant would work on multiple commissions, and rotate through a variety of roles. This provides you with the opportunity to learn about different subjects within sustainability and experience different types of roles to support you in finding your passions and building your career following completion of the graduate programme. Throughout the programme you will be provided additional formal training for you to learn and develop new technical skills and other key skills to help you in your career.

The Sustainability GDP is aligned to the IEMA Sustainability skills map, ensuring at the end of the programme you will have environmental management and consulting skills that will support a career in sustainability.

As part of the Sustainability team, and the wider Advisory business there are plenty of extra opportunities to get involved in internal projects, groups & forums, and business generation opportunities alongside client-facing work. This could range from service line development, research and development, opportunity bidding, thought leadership and internal commercial and business operational support.

Qualifications

  • 2:1 or above in your undergraduate degree.
  • 2:2 or above in undergraduate degree if you hold a RICS accredited Masters or construction related masters.
  • Right to live and work in the UK (we are unable to offer visa sponsorship).

In some regional roles being able to drive will be necessary due to the location of client offices.  Please also note this is not a remote role as we operate a hybrid working approach you will need to be willing and able to work in a Turner & Townsend office or a client site.

To be considered for roles in the Defence arena you will need to pass both a Baseline Personnel Security Standard check and UKSV SC clearance – this process will initiated once you have accepted an offer and have indicated you are happy to go through these checks.  A summary of the checks involved can be found here.
