Intern - Offshore Wind Advisory
- Full-time
Job Description
We invite you to bring your skills and motivation into play as you support the development of our global offshore wind team. As our new Intern, you will be part of our Transport and Installation (T&I) competence group within Offshore Wind Advisory
You will take on a key role contributing to the development of a weather downtime tool. The objective of this tool is to statistically analyse the possible delays when installing the different offshore windfarm assets due to waiting on good weather conditions at sea. This is an important factor to look at when studying the transport and installation methodologies of bottom fixed and floating offshore windfarms. It will allow you to deep dive into the construction phase of an offshore windfarm, and develop your programming skills.
If you want to have a first experience in the offshore wind industry with a global leader, then this role may be ideal for you. The position will be based in Madrid, but our hybrid work model allows you to split your time between working in the office and working from home.
Inviting bright minds
Do you want to push the boundaries of your profession and develop your excellence in an inclusive, collaborative and empowering culture? We work to create a sustainable future and our inspiring projects and innovative solutions aim to set the standard among our peers. You will join a global company that has been growing successfully since its founding in 1945. Together, we lead and leave a positive impact on societies, clients and people around the world.

Your tasks and responsibilities
You will support the department with the development of a Weather downtime tool. This tool will study the following aspects of offshore windfarm construction:
- Evaluation of installation methodologies and breakdown of activities.
- Definition of weather windows and required metocean parameters.
- Discuss with subject matter experts and contractors for the definition of weather operational limits.
- Develop a tool in Matlab® or Python® software that takes as an input the hindcast metocean data, breakdown of activities and weather operational limits, and provides the user with a probabilistic analysis of weather downtime suffered during construction phases.
The tool will focus on both bottom-fixed and floating foundation wind farms. In order to develop the tool, you will have access to the internal relevant project database, and you will approach colleagues from different disciplines and departments, in order to obtain their feedback and learn from their experience. Publicly available information will also be the basis of your study.
Furthermore, depending on the development of the tool, you may be asked to join and participate in other projects, supporting other experienced Consultants.
Your qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s student degree (ongoing) in a relevant topic area connected to engineering or information technology.
