Job Description

Program Overview

The KIPP NYC Leader Fellows program is geared towards supporting those who have 2 years of experience coaching individuals and/or leading teams. The focus of Leader Fellows is in developing leadership skills including team leadership, leading through others, instructional coaching, and transitioning from single content area/grade thinking to build school wide systems and structures. Leader Fellows hold a variety of roles within KIPP NYC. The Leader Fellow program operates within a set of KIPP NYC leadership development programs, all with the goal of strengthening the leadership pipeline and developing a transparent pathway to leadership. Leader Fellows are full-time members of their school and will have opportunities to practice the skills and competencies guiding the Leader Fellow program. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend regular professional development sessions and complete any required pre-work/post-work
  • Actively participate in 1:1 coaching meetings and update progress each month
  • At mid-year and end-of-year, provide upward feedback for coach
  • At mid-year and end-of-year, participate in checkpoint meetings to review progress toward goals
  • Complete capstone reflection

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • Have a minimum of two years of leadership experience in coaching individuals and/or leading teams
  • Demonstrated success in developing academic programs and academic culture
  • Demonstrated success in planning staff professional development and leading teams of teachers
  • An analytical view of tracking progress toward goals 
  • Flexibility to accommodate multiple priorities and high level of responsibilities 
  • Strong interpersonal skills that contribute to a collegial working environment and a healthy measure of the character traits we value: zest, grit, hope, love, social intelligence, gratitude, and a sense of humor. 
  • A passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture
  • Demonstrated success in raising the achievement levels of students within our KIPP NYC communities

Compensation & Benefits:

KIPP NYC Leader Fellows will not receive any additional monetary compensation outside of their standard salary rate (based on current roles/responsibilities and salary bands).
