This position is based in Supply Area North which is a part of IKEA Supply and is responsible for different business units across the IKEA value chain. The role of IKEA Supply is to supply the IKEA range at the lowest total cost, making high quality available to the customer under good social and environmental conditions.

As Packaging Specialist for Supply Area North, you will develop and secure the engineering and quality needs at the supplier’s production unit to deliver products satisfying customer expectations in all aspects of Democratic Design. 

As Packaging Specialist, you will: 

  • Support business development teams with specialist knowledge regarding packaging requirement and follow up implementation of agreed activities for the Categories, in the different Supply areas
  • In close collaboration with the business development teams, suppliers and Packaging Solution Engineers implement new and improved packaging solutions and handling material to achieve sustainable packaging with right quality, at lowest total cost for IKEA
  • Support implementation of packaging working methods throughout the categories and at suppliers
  • Support accurate data quality in packaging related IT-systems e.g. DWP in Categories and at suppliers
  • Lead packaging and packing related projects with suppliers and within IKEA to support the business needs
  • Enjoy facilitating trainings because one part of your job is to lead trainings on requirements and systems to our business teams and suppliers
  • Support Packing Line efficiency assessments & participate in efficiency projects
  • Support business development teams in handling Packaging related deviations
  • Contribute to continuous development the Packaging in IKEA 

Qualifications

 Additionally, you have: 

  • Excellent remote leadership skills. Thinking & Acting in a virtual environment
  • Work experience in an international environment
  • Knowledge of packing process (production set up and production flow) and very good understanding of packaging materials (e.g. Cost drivers, Raw material, Production, Sustainability, and Innovation), packaging solutions and concepts
  • Very good knowledge of IKEA packaging requirements and working methods
  • Good knowledge of IKEA Packaging Test methods and standards
  • You need to have a drivers license
  • Knowledge of lean production methods and tools
  • Knowledge in IKEA Supply Chain
  • Knowledge of project management tools
