Job Description

For your internship, how would you like to work for a company that helps improve how people work and live by applying precision engineering and advanced R&D? How about being part of small and nimble teams working with other co-ops and senior engineers, where your work plays an important role?  How about the potential to work on a variety of exciting and challenging projects within a single co-op? If your answer is yes, keep on reading!

A successful candidate is someone willing to work hard with close attention to detail, takes tremendous pride in their work, and will take it upon themselves to go the extra mile when needed.  Senior engineers will challenge the successful candidate to think independently and hone both their engineering and professional skills. This candidate should be able to see the “big picture,” realizing that engineering is not merely developing a subcomponent but that there are interfaces within the system and with the real world that must be addressed.  No candidate will have all of the required experience, but the key is a strong desire to learn and a willingness to push oneself! Be prepared to have fun, be challenged, and learn a lot in a startup-within-a-professional environment.  The candidate will be exposed to architecture, design, implementation, benchmarking, testing, and fielding of various capabilities enabled by software related to robotics and autonomous systems.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • Solid grasp of the primary electrical/computer engineering courses: circuit analysis, signal analysis, and computer system architecture.
  • Experience with design CAD packages such as OrCad, Altium, AutoCAD, or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience including basic wiring, soldering, crimping, use of power supplies, oscilloscopes, and other essential laboratory equipment.
  • Working knowledge of modeling/simulation software such as Matlab/Simulink.
  • Familiarity with ROS and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) &  design patterns in a hands-on and/or classroom setting
  • Microcontroller, processor, or DSP programming, including environments and tools
  • Practical experience relating to PCB component selection, design, and routing.
  • Coursework in robotics theory, feedback control theory, linear algebra, neural networks, AI, digital signal processing, and analog or mixed system design.
  • Understanding the theory of operation of motors, drives, servos, sensors, and batteries.
  • Must be a US Person due to government contractual obligations.
  • This is a six month coop beginning in January.  Must be available through the end of June.
