Job Description

We invite you to join the world of luxury hospitality at Fairmont Southampton as our new Storekeeper. The Storekeeper reports to the Director of Purchasing and is responsible for receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing, and maintaining inventory of all goods and supplies required for the hotel's operations. This includes food and beverage products, operating supplies, equipment, linens, uniforms, and other inventory items. The Storekeeper works closely with Receiving, Purchasing, Finance, and operational departments to ensure that inventory is accurately maintained, securely stored, properly rotated, and distributed efficiently while supporting Fairmont and Accor operational standards.

What you will be doing:

Receiving & Inventory Control

  • Receive and verify all goods, supplies, and equipment delivered to the hotel against purchase orders and delivery documentation.
  • Inspect incoming deliveries for quantity, quality, damage, expiration dates, and compliance with hotel standards.
  • Record and document all received inventory accurately within inventory management systems and receiving logs.
  • Report shortages, discrepancies, damaged goods, or delivery issues promptly to Purchasing and Receiving teams.
  • Ensure all inventory transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.

Storage & Stock Management

  • Store all goods and supplies in designated locations in accordance with safety, hygiene, and storage requirements.
  • Maintain organized, clean, and secure storeroom facilities at all times.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation using FIFO (First In, First Out) principles, particularly for food and beverage products.
  • Monitor inventory levels and notify Purchasing of low stock, slow-moving items, or replenishment requirements.
  • Ensure proper storage conditions are maintained for all inventory categories, including perishables and temperature-sensitive items.

Distribution & Departmental Support

  • Issue and distribute supplies, equipment, and inventory items to hotel departments in accordance with approved requisitions.
  • Verify departmental requests and ensure inventory issuance is accurately documented.
  • Support operational departments by ensuring timely availability of required supplies and materials.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to maintain appropriate inventory levels and minimize shortages.

Inventory Audits & Reconciliation

  • Conduct routine inventory counts and participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual stocktaking activities.
  • Reconcile physical inventory counts with inventory records and investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist with inventory valuation processes and provide supporting documentation as required.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and prepare reports for management review.
  • Support Finance and Purchasing teams during inventory audits and reviews.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Follow Accor, Fairmont, and hotel policies relating to inventory management, food safety, workplace safety, and loss prevention.
  • Ensure all storage areas comply with health, safety, sanitation, and security standards.
  • Maintain proper handling procedures for food products, chemicals, and other regulated materials.
  • Identify and report opportunities to improve inventory controls, efficiency, and cost management.
  • Protect hotel assets through effective inventory management and stock control practices.

Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Work closely with Purchasing, Receiving, Finance, and operational departments to support inventory requirements.
  • Assist in resolving inventory-related discrepancies and operational supply concerns.
  • Support departmental initiatives aimed at improving inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • Provide support and cross-training within the Purchasing and Receiving function as required.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in receiving, warehousing, inventory control, logistics, or a related field, preferably within hospitality or food and beverage operations.
  • Experience handling food, beverage, and operational supply inventories in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience using inventory management or materials control systems preferred.
  • Previous experience with stocktaking, inventory reconciliation, and storeroom operations is advantageous.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certification or coursework in inventory management, warehousing, logistics, or a related discipline is an asset.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.

Competencies, Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of receiving, warehousing, and inventory control procedures.
  • Knowledge of food categories, storage requirements, stock rotation practices, and inventory management principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency with inventory control systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to identify and resolve inventory discrepancies efficiently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to safely lift, move, and handle inventory and supplies as required.
