Job Description

Position Overview:
The Near North Montessori (NNM) School Summer Extended Day Faculty (part-time, seasonal position) works with the Programs team to provide a caring, warm and fun environment for students (3-6 age group and 6-12 age group) after the summer camp day ends.  Hours of this program are Monday – Friday 3:00pm to 6:00pm during the summer program (June 15, 2026 to August 7, 2026).

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Provide care for and lead/participate in activities for students enrolled in the extended day program

  • Work collaboratively with extended day staff to plan fun, developmentally appropriate activities within the extended day environments (both indoor and outdoor)

  • Assist with organization and preparation of the extended day rooms and other spaces used

  • Assist students with transitions in and out of extended day, this includes other activities, snack, carpool/pickup and more; ensuring safety at all times and following established school/camp  protocols for child pick up and drop off

  • Clean the assigned extended day room/space and prepare for the next day

  • Notify camp supervisors, instructors and other staff immediately if any questionable or potentially harmful circumstances that threaten the safety of any campers

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested

Years of Experience

Prior experience working in a summer camp or aftercare program

Specific Skills Required

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate

  • Understanding of a child's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs

  • Demonstrated ability to follow directions and complete tasks in an effective manner

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy setting

  • Ability to organize and participate in age-appropriate enrichment activities

  • Ability to work well with people
