Job Description

This position will provide legal support for a wide variety of software and related technology licenses, professional services arrangements, NDAs, and related transactions across NBCUniversal, including in support of corporate operations, information technology, human resources, and other corporate functions. The role will also support organization-wide center of excellence efforts, including providing guidance to business unit attorneys working on related deals for their business units and developing and maintaining templates, negotiation guides, clause banks, fallback positions, and related legal processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently draft, review, negotiate, and interpret a range of contracts and other legal documents, including software and technology licenses, professional services agreements, and NDAs supporting NBCUniversal businesses, corporate operations, information technology, human resources, and other corporate functions
  • Manage and contribute to center of excellence efforts, including providing practical guidance to business unit attorneys on related transactions for their business units and improving templates, negotiation guides, clause banks, fallback positions, forms, playbooks, and legal processes for use across the organization
  • Work closely with business stakeholders and Law Department colleagues to advise on legal matters arising from technology, operational, commercial, and corporate initiatives
  • Coordinate with Privacy and Information Security teams to help ensure personal data and confidential information is collected, used, and secured in accordance with applicable law and company policy
  • Provide timely, thoughtful, and practical legal advice on potential risks and issues, including business-oriented solutions
  • Support NDA intake, drafting, negotiation, and process improvements for the organization
  • Partner with NBCUniversal business executives and Law Department colleagues to implement best practices and develop processes aligned with business needs
  • Maintain awareness of relevant developments in law and technology
  • Other matters as needed at the direction of the division’s leader

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Must be admitted to the New York State Bar or eligible to register as in-house counsel in New York.
  • JD or LLM degree from an accredited law school
  • 1+ years of relevant legal experience
  • Experience in digital / new media, including a thorough understanding of and demonstrated proficiency with technology agreements
  • Willingness to work nights and on weekends, if needed

  • Ability to explain complex legal concepts to business and creative executives, build consensus across business units, think creatively, and collaborate with other executives to address business needs

This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the New York, NY office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.

Salary range: $100,000 - $130,000 (bonus eligible)
