In addition to hands-on editing, the position includes writing scripts, building segments, and supporting producers with entry-level producing responsibilities. Responsibilities:

  • Edit video — including day-of-air packages, soundbites, and graphic elements — for a live daily show on tight deadlines
  • Write clear, concise scripts and banners with speed and accuracy
  • Assist producers in building segments from pitch to air, including research and editorial development
  • Collaborate closely with the Executive Producer, senior producers, correspondents, and anchors
  • Pitch timely and relevant ideas for day-of coverage and future segments
  • Monitor developing news and keep senior producers and the EP updated on assigned stories
  • Quality-check video, graphics, and scripts to ensure accuracy and alignment with editorial standards
  • Work a Monday–Friday shift, 2:00am–10:00am ET

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in broadcast, cable, or streaming news, ideally in a live show environment
  • Strong video editing skills and experience turning around elements quickly for air
  • Solid news judgment and strong writing skills
  • Ability to stay calm and accurate under deadline pressure
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience editing in Avid and/or Premiere
  • Familiarity with iNEWS or similar newsroom systems
  • Experience shooting on DSLR or similar cameras
  • Strong attention to detail and an interest in growing into larger producing responsibilities
  • Comfort working in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment

Additional Requirements:

  • Fully Remote: This position has been designated as fully remote, meaning that the position is expected to contribute from a non-NBCUniversal worksite, most commonly an employee’s residence.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
