Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • • Allocate jobs, routes, or tasks to operational staff.
  • • Monitor workforce availability and resource utilisation.
  • • Adjust allocations to accommodate changing operational requirements.
  • • Respond quickly to emergency or urgent requests.
  • • Ensure optimal deployment of personnel and equipment.
  • Operational Coordination
  • • Monitor live operations throughout the shift.
  • • Maintain communication with drivers, field personnel, and supervisors.
  • • Resolve scheduling conflicts and operational disruptions.
  • • Escalate significant incidents to management where required.
  • • Maintain shift continuity during staff absences or delays.
  • Service Enquiries
  • • Respond professionally to customer enquiries.
  • • Provide accurate updates regarding service delivery.
  • • Liaise with internal departments to resolve issues.
  • • Ensure customer service standards are maintained during overnight operations.

Resource Allocation

  • Maintain accurate allocation records.
  • Update scheduling and dispatch systems.
  • Prepare shift reports and handover documentation.
  • Record incidents, delays, and operational exceptions.
  • Complete required administrative tasks before shift completion.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Promote safe work practices.
  • Monitor fatigue management requirements where applicable.
  • Ensure legislative and regulatory requirements are followed.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in scheduling, dispatch, allocation, or operations coordination.
  • Experience using scheduling or dispatch software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

Desirable:

  • Experience in transport, logistics.
  • Knowledge of GPS tracking systems.
  • Understanding of fatigue management requirements.
  • Relevant industry qualifications.

Additional Information

  • Night shift roster, including weekends and public holidays as required.
  • Predominantly office or control room environment.
  • Extended periods using computers and communication systems.
  • May require after-hours decision-making and incident management.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to operate multiple computer systems simultaneously.
  • Capacity to communicate effectively via telephone and radio.

Authority

The Nightshift Allocator is authorised to:

  • Allocate and reallocate work during the shift.
  • Prioritise operational resources.
  • Ability to deal with operational issues as they appear.
