Job Description
The Quality Engineer is responsible for testing new features, writing and maintaining test cases, and regression testing the app prior to release. The Quality Engineer will also support the team via troubleshooting, answering questions, and brainstorming solutions.
Your tasks:
- Test new features as they are developed, questioning the feature to ensure that it meets the defined user story and raising any issues with the product team and software engineers.
- Create test cases to test the specific mechanics of the feature, testing those mechanics as the cases are written.
- Assist in regression testing the product.
- Be available for post-release testing as needed.
- Be first in line to troubleshoot potential bugs and log clear, reproducible bug reports. Work with developers and product team to triage issues and keep all stakeholders informed of findings and a timeframe for fixes.
- Communicate clearly and directly with the tech team. You’re able to articulate why you feel certain changes should be made; you also listen well to why they don’t want to make them. You are able to work towards compromise, rarely needing the manager to intervene.
Qualifications
- Fluent in English
- At least 1 years of professional Quality Engineering experience.
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Experience testing web-based applications, using browser developer tools, and performing cross-browser testing.
- Experience with issue tracking software like Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Experience testing software, writing test cases, and using test case management software.
- Experience with automated testing is a plus.
What makes you a great fit for this role?
- Teamwork and a willingness to help others.
- Able to think critically about features and question the product with an understanding of how features work together in the program and how they fit into our clients’ workflow.
- Must be curious and ask questions, such as: how does this work? Why does it do that? What if I do this?
- Able to write clearly and concisely. Able to distill complex concepts and present them in an easily understood way (this includes both explaining features and documenting bugs).
- Self-motivation and creative problem-solving.
- A willingness to learn and a strong work ethic.
- Enthusiasm for being part of a small team making a global impact in the venue industry (Convention Centers, Arenas, Performing Arts Centers).
