Could you be our next Lease Accountant?

An exciting newly created role has become available for a Lease Consultant to join the McDonald’s Finance team.  

The Lease Accountant supports the management and reporting of financial impacts of new, renewed and amended leases in accordance with IFRS and GAAP accounting standards. This role requires a high level of technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and stakeholder engagement. Internal controls and accuracy of work are important in this role, including the adherence to SOX controls and audit requirements.  

This position calls for a passionate individual who is flexible and adaptive to change but also enjoys working in a collaborative and fast-paced team environment.

What are the key responsibilities?

  • Maintain compliance with lease accounting standards IFRS16 and ASC842
  • Validate lease data and critical accounting attributes for new, renewed and amended leases.
  • Manage the month end process and recording of lease journal entries.
  • Create and maintain procedural documentation and training materials.
  • Management of balance sheet accounts including lease payments, ROUA/liability and sub-ledger reconciliations.
  • Complete monthly reporting.
  • Ad hoc analysis for key stakeholders including Commercial Finance, Tax and FP&A.
  • Annual and ad hoc reporting to the Corporate Controller Group.
  • Assist with preparing local annual financial statements.
  • Ensure SOX controls are met and adequate audit documentation is maintained.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors regarding process walkthroughs, and other queries relating to audit testing and local IFRS reporting.
  • Effectively use Tririga, the lease accounting management system.
  • Support ongoing enhancements to the Tririga system;
  • Support the relationship with both Real Estate and external stakeholders as required.

What are the keys to success?

  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Experience in a similar role or with Lease Accounting standards in some capacity
  • Studying or completed CA or CPA
  • Ability to work with integrated systems
  • Displays a high level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy in work
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and inquisitive mindset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to engage with others and build effective relationships

Desirable

  • Experience with Tririga – lease management platform
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • 2+ years in a Big 4  or Mid-tier accounting firm
