Could you be our next Network Planner?

An exciting newly created role has become available for an experienced Network Planner to join the McDonald’s team. Reporting through to the National Commercial Manager, the Network Planner plays a key role in providing sound commercial recommendations to the National Development Group (NDG). With a heavy focus on new store pipeline, priorities will be optimising network planning and new restaurant selection. Additionally, as the Network Planner you will be the Finance Lead for the National Development Board ensuring appropriate gateways and governance are in place as it relates to Reinvestment and New Store process.

This position calls for a passionate individual who has the ability to interpret data/research and translate it into actionable insights, adding value for all stakeholders. As an individual you must enjoy working in a collaborative and fast-paced team environment, whilst meeting goals and targets to deliver upon business plan objectives.

What are the key responsibilities?

  • Regular reports and analytics including; impact assessments, virgin sales reports, new store returns and feasibility reviews
  • Support the national 5-year network strategy
  • Assist in the development and application of best practice sales estimation models and analysis tools
  • Lead the development and delivery of all analytics, research and reporting for the Development Group
  • Analyse network and strategic business decisions, providing advice to NDG leadership team
  • Manage the overall budget for analytics tools, sales & impact analysis and market studies/ad hoc reports
  • Lead the Development Team and other internal stakeholders in understanding, shaping and implementing research that builds for growth
  • Understand the key issues facing the brand and be able to articulate why we see the current results in market
  • Responsible for the data and reporting in PMO
  • Develop strong relationships with key contacts internally
  • Coordinate impact analysis
  • Manage proposals from market research companies (e.g. Geotech) for cost v’s budget
  • Keep reports up to date, including: Virgin Sales, EVA etc.
  • Finance Lead for end to end Feasibility process generating consistent templates and metrics and ensuring accuracy and relevant of inputs prior to Board 
  • Assist Regional Finance and Development have right governance and process in place for executing and tracking costs and returns for reinvestment and new stores

What are the keys to success:

  • Degree/Post graduate qualifications in Geography/ Property Economics/ Commerce
  • Appropriate level of Financial and Commercial Acumen to support sound commercial recommendations
  • Prior experience within a Site Research or Network Planning team
  • Proven experience within a role that incorporates analysing and understanding multiple customer and spatial datasets in the context of retail site selection and strategic planning
  • Highly numerate with strong analytical skills including advanced MS Excel ability
  • Knowledge of Australian retail landscape and understanding of market trends
  • Ability to provide independent, open and honest advice with regards to network and site-specific issues
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience with Gapmaps
  • QSR / large retail experience
  • Broad experience in using a variety of retail sales forecasting and modelling techniques
