Could you be our next Senior Employee Relations Consultant?

The Employee Relations team at Macca’s are the 'front line' of employee relations advice and support for our Restaurant staff, Operations Teams and Licensees. With over 100,000 employees nationally, our employee relations program provides fair and consistent treatment to all employees, allowing us to provide a positive employment experience.

A great opportunity has become available for a passionate and experienced ER & IR professional to join the Macca’s Team as the Senior Employee Relations Consultant. Reporting to the National Employee Relations Manager, this role will see you lead the Employee Relations hotline team, operate as the subject matter expert on all areas of ER and IR, and ensure an escalation point for all workplace matters in our McDonald’s Restaurants.

What can you expect on a day-to-day basis?

  • Provide expert advice in the areas of ER and IR to restaurant owners, employees, Managers and stakeholders
  • Lead the development and refinement of policies and procedures in relation to McDonald’s restaurant-facing employment obligations
  • Lead the team of three Workplace Relations Advisors to provide excellent quality service to users of the Employee Relations Hotline 
  • Take escalated hotline calls or emails as needed
  • Support the personal and professional development of the Employee Relations Advisors
  • Work with the broader People & Culture team to manage relationships between McDonald’s and our Licensees as employers
  • Liaise with the relevant union/employee association on any employment issues that may arise
  • Develop and socialise any policies or procedures required at restaurant level, in relation to all aspects of employment
  • Work closely with National Employee Relations Manager and Workplace Relations Consultant to identify and action opportunities to continuously improve McDonald’s people practices

We are seeking an individual who actively drives their own development by staying current with Australian legal and policy updates that may affect the McDonald’s business. Further to this, we are looking for an effective coach and leader, skilled at diagnosing gaps and supporting individuals to improve and grow.

Experience Essentials:

  • Demonstrated experience in ER and IR (3+years)
  • Deep knowledge of employment law
  • Ability to conduct serious and complex investigations
  • Demonstrated experience in interpreting Awards (Fast food exposure advantageous, but not essential)
  • Tertiary Qualification in HR or Law desirable (but not essential)
