Job Title: Cloud Specialist - Vendor Management
Location: Hyderabad, India
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Cloud Specialist – License Analyst who will be a key member of the Vendor Management Office, responsible for tracking and managing cloud software licenses, subscriptions, and entitlements across public and hybrid cloud environments. This role ensures that cloud usage and license quantities align with contractual commitments and vendor agreements, helping the organization avoid non-compliance, overages, and unnecessary cloud spend.T he candidate should have a deep understanding of cloud technology, license metrics, consumption models, and vendor relationships, and will support the full license lifecycle including planning, acquisition, monitoring, optimization, and renewal.The candidate must be willing to work on site 4 days a week in Hyderabad, during US EST time zone.
Key Responsibilities:
Cloud License Lifecycle Management:
- Track and manage licenses and subscriptions for cloud services across AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and SaaS applications (e.g., Microsoft 365, Salesforce, ServiceNow).
- Maintain an accurate inventory of entitlements, usage quantities, license types, and renewal timelines.
- Ensure alignment between license allocations and actual cloud service deployments.
Usage Tracking & Analysis:
- Monitor real-time and historical usage of cloud resources such as compute instances, storage, databases, and SaaS seats.
- Analyze utilization trends to detect over-provisioning, under-utilization, and license misalignments.
- Generate reports and dashboards to support visibility into cloud spend, license quantities, and forecasting.
Vendor Management & Contract Alignment:
- Support VMO and procurement teams in reviewing cloud service contracts, ensuring licensing terms and usage metrics are accurately interpreted and tracked.
- Collaborate with cloud vendors and internal stakeholders to manage license negotiations, true-ups, and renewals.
- Validate that cloud usage is compliant with vendor contracts, especially in BYOL (Bring Your Own License), CSP, or Enterprise Agreement (EA) scenarios.
Cloud Cost Optimization:
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through license consolidation, reserved instance strategies, license portability, or tier optimization.
- Partner with Cloud FinOps or finance teams to align license tracking with cloud budget forecasts and committed spend.
- Propose recommendations for scaling licenses up or down based on business needs and system usage.
Tool Integration & Automation:
- Utilize tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, Google Billing Console, and license management platforms (e.g., Flexera, Snow, ServiceNow ITAM) to track and reconcile usage data.
- Help develop integrations between cloud platforms, ITAM/SAM tools, and contract management systems to automate license tracking and reporting.
- Ensure consistent tagging, categorization, and asset mapping across cloud environments for accurate reporting.
Governance, Audit & Compliance Support:
- Establish controls and processes for cloud license compliance, audit readiness, and lifecycle documentation.
- Support internal and external audits by providing accurate license data and evidence of compliance.
- Contribute to governance frameworks and licensing policies for cloud technology usage across the organization.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Cloud Computing, or related field.
- 3–6 years of experience in cloud operations, software asset management, or license compliance in an enterprise setting.
- Experience managing cloud service provider (CSP) contracts and SaaS vendor licensing (e.g., Microsoft, AWS, Google, Salesforce).
Skills & Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of cloud licensing and pricing models:
- Reserved vs. on-demand instances
- BYOL (Bring Your Own License)
- Subscription-based vs. consumption-based pricing
- SaaS seat licensing and metering
- Knowledge of key cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP, and major SaaS services.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills with experience in license usage analysis and cost optimization.
- Familiarity with software asset management (SAM) and ITAM principles and tools.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders across IT, procurement, finance, and vendor relations.
Tools & Technologies:
- Cloud cost management tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, GCP Billing Console)
- License/SAM platforms (e.g., Flexera, Snow Software, ServiceNow ITAM)
- Reporting tools: Excel, Power BI, Tableau
- ERP and procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa)
Cloud Fluency: Deep familiarity with cloud service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and licensing implications.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy when tracking licenses, usage data, and contractual terms.
Analytical Thinking: Ability to derive actionable insights from license consumption and spend data.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with IT, procurement, finance, and vendor teams.
Problem Solving: Creative and resourceful in addressing license-related challenges or compliance risks.
Cultural Awareness: Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and manage teams across different time zones.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or Azure Fundamentals
- Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) – IAITAM
- FinOps Certified Practitioner
- ITIL Foundation Certification
