Job Description

Job Purpose: To ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations to prevent downtime and achieve plant production targets according to procedures, standards and specifications. To ensure all activities carried-out in the plant sites are executed according to all relevant standards and QHSE procedures, standards, and specifications.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Validate work permits for work performed in the plant.
  • Maintain efficient and reliable Operations in order to avoid Plant downtime and to meet Plant production targets. Ensure daily instructions are fully understood and well applied.
  • Respond to any emergency situations such as plant trip, accident or incident and take necessary actions to bring back the plant to a normal situation and to avoid any other reoccurrence in the future.
  • Perform frequent plant field inspection tours to ensure that field activities are performed.
  • Ensure all machineries are in sound operating conditions.
  • Validate that work requests issued by operators timewise and quality-wise acceptable.
  • Validate the quality of maintenance works executed for Operations in the Plant.
  • Participate in scheduling maintenance works and first level maintenance activities done by Operators
  • Attempt all possible actions of reducing equipment downtime and ensuring high Plant availability.
  • Participate in trouble-shooting investigations, identify operations trends, perform root causes analysis and recommend corrective actions to support Plant Operations continuous improvement

Monitor O&M performance:

  • Participate in Plant performance and availability improvement plans or operations and maintenance cost reduction plans by highlighting defects in the Plant design or installation.
  • Submit necessary reports and recommendations to the Operations Manager regarding equipment status and/or problems. Keep tracking of all Operations’ historical records.
  • Participate in plant scheduled shutdowns and turnarounds

Reporting:

  • Manage the financial planning, to meet payables.
  • Review O&M reporting on monthly performance against budget and business plans.
  • Manage the preparation of monthly performance reporting and KPI’s for the company.
  • Contribute to financial planning, reporting and tracking.
  • Ensure that all relevant reports are completed in a comprehensive, accurate and timely manner, and comply with international principles of corporate governance and standards and with terms of agreements with CPC

Health and Safety: 

  • Ensure that all HSE measures and precautions are strictly considered and taken care of during the execution of operations activities to avoid any activity which might lead to Health Safety and Environment incidents.

Support with other tasks as required

  • Provide support on other tasks as and when required by the line manager, including but not limited to writing key documents and correspondences.
  • Lead project or special assignments as required.

Compliance of information security policies, procedures:

  • Adhere to any applicable Masdar information security policies and procedures and identify and report security incidents and suspected weaknesses to the appropriate point(s) of contact.
  • Protect assets under care (e.g. laptops and other devices) and information/credentials against unauthorized access, sharing, and/or damage/loss, in accordance with the Information Classification and Handling Procedure.
  • Clear desks of all sensitive material and log off/ lock workstations at the end of the day and when leaving desk for a prolonged period in accordance with Acceptable Usage Policies.
  • Ensure not installing, copying or modifying of any software on Masdar equipment without authorization.

QHSE: 

  • Support for Quality Health and Safety Environment (QHSE) activities, policies and objectives of Masdar and compliance with the laws and regulation
  • This includes participating (when requested) in QHSE audits, office inductions, incident reporting and review of QHSE performances as applicable

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent Experience
  • 8 -10 years of experience in the operation of a large power generation plant or continuous process plants, of which at least 3 years in a similar position or a supervisory role.
  • MUST have hands-on experience in the operation of Steam Turbine, High Pressure Boiler /Wind turbine and Solar.
  • Hands-on experience in the operations of Distributed Control Systems.
  • Hands-on experience in the operations of HV, MV & LV Electrical Systems.

Job-Specific Skills:

  • Good technical experience in wind power plants.
  • Able to communicate appropriately and manage to all persons on site.
  • Experience with managing different technical subcontractors on complex projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Must be available to take duties and ownership of situations at all times including weekends and out of day normal working outs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Project, Word and Outlook and proven ability to learn new software programs when needed.
