Job Description

To provide support services for Masdar Green Hydrogen (MGH) project origination and early-stage Front End and contribute to the provision of timely and cost-effective support throughout various stages of the project, with a particular focus on the implementation of electrolysis technology within MGH.

Support for delivering the unit’s business plans

• Support in developing and delivering the annual operational business plans and KPIs for the unit and contribute to performance monitoring and reporting for the unit so that overall objectives are met.

Support Projects Development and Execution Unit as a Specialist

• Support the Projects Development and Execution Unit with specialized expertise in the implementation of electrolysis technology.

• Provide necessary technical due diligence support for Business Development & Commercial Unit and other departments in the Projects Development and Execution Unit, as and when required, for the Decision Support packages and endeavour to move projects to their next stages as per MGH Stage Gate Value Assurance Process and complete.

• Provide inputs to the decision support package and ensure it has relevant technical information to help the decision maker make informed decision on whether the project can pass to next stage and update the relevant gating checklist.

• Identify technical risks, report to management, and suggest mitigation measures.

• Explore and Review implementation of new technologies.

• Support on the Electrolyzer technology sourcing requirements and support in the technical package information evaluation.

• Perform general technology assessments and analyses as requested by management and submit reports and recommendations; mainly focuses on electrolysis technologies.

• Maintain close coordination and alignment with other departments within the Projects Development and Execution Unit.

• Collaborate with the Projects department team to study Electrolyzer technology sourcing requirements and assist in evaluating technical package information.

• Provide inputs for system optimization efforts, power profile analysis, and interface requirements.

• Contribute to safety studies and workshops as necessary.

• Propose new tools, systems, and software solutions to fulfill business needs.

Screening, studies, and other technical support to assess electrolysis technology

• Perform pre-screening and/or technical feasibility studies of electrolysis technology.

• Conduct industry research and gather data relevant to electrolysis technology, market trends, technological advancements.

• Analyse industry data and provide support by preparing presentation materials for internal team purposes and Masdar.

• Keep track of announcements related to Electrolysis technologies and projects applying such Technologies.

• Conduct research and prepare presentation materials in a timely and quality manner.

• Maintain ready information on CAPEX, Yields, Utilities, OPEX etc. as these become available through work on different projects.

• Maintain active contact with Technology providers to keep track of Technology developments and readiness for commercial application.

• Assist in maintaining and applying information obtained on Gasification Technologies.

Supporting the Implementation of various pilot projects, experimental work, and technology transfer

• Support in the implementation of various pilot projects as identified by the Projects Development and Execution strategy including concept design and engineering in line with the overall strategy and plans.

• Collect, analyse, and interpret experimental data using statistical methods and data visualization tools.

• Identify key performance indicators and develop metrics to assess electrolysis performance.

• Document experimental procedures, results, and finding in technical reports.

• Facilitate technology transfer activities to transfer knowledge with MGH.

Participate in RFP and tenders for electrolysis technology

• Assist in the preparation of all tender documents for Requests for Proposals (RFPs) or tenders related to electrolysis technology.

• Provide support throughout the tender process, including tasks such as prequalification and evaluation.

• Participate in contract negotiations, particularly regarding technical aspects, to ensure alignment with project requirements and standards.

Technical Journals and Data base subscriptions

• Suggest to management subscriptions in relevant Technical Journals and technical data base providers in order to ensure MGH and its resources are always up to date with latest technologies and technical developments.

• Prepare and exchange summary write-ups with other colleagues and flag critical developments to management.

Management of stakeholders and third-party service providers

• Develop and maintain professional relationships with business partners (including but not limited to: OEM, manufacturers) as well as with the internal team at MGH and other Masdar units.

• Ensure relationships with service level providers are managed smoothly and effectively in a way that guarantees that Masdar/MGH is provided with quality and timely services, in line with relevant service level agreements.

• As and when required by management, personally manage key relationships/negotiations/technical interfaces with relevant internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure the negotiation and agreement of favourable deals and agreements that safeguard Masdar’s best interests while ensuring the delivery of necessary needs/goals.

Continuous improvement of policies, systems and processes

• Contribute to the continuous improvement and implementation of unit systems, policies and procedures covering all areas of activity so that all relevant procedural/ legislative requirements and standards are fulfilled while ensuring that policies and procedures support the delivery of the strategy.

Reporting to stakeholders

• Complete all relevant reports in a comprehensive, accurate and timely manner, and comply with international principles of corporate governance and standards, and shareholder requirements.

Compliance with information security policies, procedures and requirements at all times

• Adhere to any applicable Masdar information security policies and procedures and identify and report security incidents and suspected weaknesses to the appropriate point(s) of contact.

• Protect assets under care (e.g. laptops and other devices) and information/credentials against unauthorized access, sharing, and/or damage/loss, in accordance with the Information Classification and Handling Procedure.

• Clear desks of all sensitive material and log off/ lock workstations at the end of the day and when leaving desk for a prolonged period in accordance with Acceptable Usage Policies.

• Ensure not installing, copying or modifying of any software on Masdar equipment without authorization.

Support for Quality Health and Safety Environment (QHSE) activities, policies and objectives of Masdar and compliance with the laws and regulations

• This includes participating (when requested) in QHSE audits, office inductions, incident reporting and review of QHSE performances as applicable.

• Gather and Maintain Information on Safety aspects of Green Hydrogen plants.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in mechanical, chemical or engineering from a top-tier internationally recognized higher education institution is a must.

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical or engineering or related field

Preferred Experience:

• 0-3 years of experience in similar project roles, involving technical analyses and assessments of a variety of clean energy technologies or process, or equivalent experience

• Relevant experience in clean energy, hydrogen and derivatives, and de-carbonization initiatives/technologies is a must.

• Ability to operate in an international environment and to adapt to different cultural situations. Exposure to target markets in Europe, the US and Asia (esp. China, Japan, South Korea) is seen as a plus.

• Good knowledge of the renewable energy sector, Oil & Gas or green hydrogen
