Marie Curie is the UK’s leading end-of-life charity. We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness, they’re likely to die from. 

The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life. Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.

Make a Meaningful Difference Through Spiritual Care 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Spiritual Care Coordinator to join our team at our Edinburgh Hospice on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a rewarding role for a compassionate and experienced professional who is passionate about delivering holistic, person-centred care. 

 
 What you will be doing:  

Working as part of our Allied Health Professional (AHP) and multidisciplinary teams, you will provide leadership and expertise in spiritual care, supporting patients, families and carers both within the hospice and the communities we serve. Through meaningful conversations, one-to-one support, participation in MDT discussions, staff wellbeing initiatives and the development of volunteer networks, you will help people find comfort, connection and meaning during some of life's most challenging times. 

What we’re looking for:   

• Experience working in a Spiritual Care role 
• A recognised faith representative or a person with acknowledged standing within their faith community. 
• Degree-level education, or equivalent, in a subject relevant to the role. 
• A current full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use, with a willingness to travel across the local community as required. 
• Registered with CPCPC (or willing to commence the registration process upon appointment). 
• Experience of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team, building positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. 
• The ability to provide leadership and a clear vision for Spiritual Care, inspiring and influencing others to deliver high-quality support. 
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with patients, families, carers, staff, volunteers and healthcare professionals. 
• The ability to support individuals from a wide range of beliefs, faiths and backgrounds with sensitivity, compassion and respect. 
• A commitment to delivering person-centred, holistic care and supporting the wellbeing of patients, families, carers and colleagues.
