Job Description

As a Junior Energy Trader, you'll gain hands-on experience across Natural Gas, Power, Crude Oil, and Refined Products markets while working alongside experienced traders and commercial leaders.

This role is designed for someone with 2-4 years of energy market experience who is ready to take the next step in their trading career. You'll have the opportunity to deepen your understanding of market fundamentals, participate in trade execution, and contribute to commercial strategies that help drive business performance.

Working closely with traders, analysts, risk managers, and operational teams, you'll develop a comprehensive view of the energy value chain while building the technical, commercial, and analytical skills needed for long-term success in commodities trading.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Monitor global energy markets and identify trends, risks, and opportunities that impact trading decisions.
  • Support trade execution activities while learning commercial and risk management strategies.
  • Analyze supply and demand fundamentals, market data, geopolitical developments, and macroeconomic trends.
  • Prepare market insights, trading reports, and performance analyses to support decision-making.
  • Partner with risk management teams to monitor positions and ensure compliance with trading limits.
  • Collaborate with logistics, operations, and finance teams to support the successful execution and settlement of trades.
  • Maintain accurate trade, contract, and market records to support daily commercial activities.

Qualifications

Education/Professional Certifications/Licenses

Required qualification:

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Economics, Math, Business, Engineering, or related field.

 

Experience

Basic qualification:

  • Around 2-4 years of experience in energy trading, commodities, or financial markets.
  • Knowledge of Natural Gas, Power, Crude Oil, and Oil Products markets.
  • Experience with Python or SQL is a plus
  • Experience with multiple trading platforms (ICE, CME Direct, Others)

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands)

Basic qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet and word-processing software (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet strict monthly deadlines.
  • Proactively approaches job duties and potential problems.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel

  • Interacts closely with personnel in other departments and Company locations.
