Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Logistics professional to lead the management and development of LDC’s rail logistics capability. This role focuses on delivering a customer-centric, least-cost approach while ensuring all contractual and legislative requirements are met. You will play a key role in optimising supply chain performance, improving service delivery, and identifying cost-saving and arbitrage opportunities across rail and road logistics. As a senior team member, you will also mentor and support junior team members.

Key responsibilities will be but not limited to 

  • Manage and optimise rail logistics operations and costs
  • Coordinate supply chain activities across rail and road
  • Ensure all contracts are executed in line with agreed terms
  • Monitor logistics performance, capacity, and constraints
  • Identify cost-saving and arbitrage opportunities
  • Maintain strong relationships with sites, clients, and service providers
  • Support reporting, compliance, and financial performance reviews
  • Mentor and support junior team members.

Qualifications

Desired skills and Experience:

  • Logistics experience, ideally within agriculture or grains
  • Strong understanding of rail and road freight operations
  • Experience in planning, scheduling, and supply chain optimisation
  • Commercial mindset with strong analytical skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (desirable)
