Job Description

L. J. Smith is seeking an experienced Customer Service Account Specialist for our Puyallup, Washington facility. This role is critical to the operation. Knowledge of Customer Service and Office Clerical functions is essential. Duties include Customer Service and various data entry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

A proficient and capable Customer Service Representative will have a good foundational understanding of our products, our installation system and processes. They must be equipped to understand and answer customer inquiries. Finally they will be capable to receive and enter customer orders with the goal of ensuring a positive customer experience.  Other duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Answer telephones and give appropriate product information and prices to customers.
  • Create, maintain, and enter information into databases.
  • Set up and manage paper or electronic filing systems, recording information, updating paperwork, or maintaining documents, correspondence, or other material.
  • Operate office equipment, such as fax machines, copiers, or phone systems.
  • Complete forms in accordance with company procedures.

Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Customer Service Representatives must be highly motivated, disciplined, outgoing and personable, have excellent customer relation skills, strong organizational skills and proven keyboarding skill. Candidates must have the ability to multi-task (using phone while seeking and entering data on the computer) and have at least a high school diploma or GED. Candidates must possess the following skill and experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing based customer service industry are preferred. Knowledge of millwork related products is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Excellent computer proficiency using the computer for various applications, such as database management or word processing, (MS Office – Word and Outlook)
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices 
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. 
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
