DRS Naval Power Systems (NPS) a multi-site operation responsible for $350 million of revenue with locations in Milwaukee, WI, Danbury, CT, Fitchburg, MA, and High Ridge, MO with an employee base of approximately 900 employees. NPS is structured into four Lines of Business: Power, Motors, Nuclear Instrumentation and Controls and Marlo Coil focusing on supporting the power and propulsion needs of the U.S. Navy.  We provide engineering, manufacturing and lifetime support of our highly engineered products. 

Job Description

Position Summary:
Manages the physical movement of outbound shipments, including shipments to both domestic and international customers, and distribution centers and branches within the organization.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Manages the physical movement of outbound shipments, including shipments to both domestic and international customers, and distribution centers and branches within the organization
  • Leads Shipping and Packaging Team.
  • Responsible for Packaging and determining best practices for Packaging sensitive instrumentation of various size.
  • Manages the development and implementation of economical and efficient traffic/transportation services for the organization and its customers
  • Schedules and coordinates the routing of outgoing shipments
  • Develops and implements new procedures and methods to reduce costs
  • Examines and approves payment of bills
  • Resolves claims for loss or damage
  • Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and controlling
  • Responsible for establishing alternate warehousing options.
  • Maintains Finished Goods and establishes shipping priorities based on customer contract delivery dates.
  • Works with Operations, Finance and PMO to establish and maintain weekly/monthly shipping schedule.
  • Has supervisory responsibility involving staffing, conducting performance appraisals, training and developing subordinates, promotions, salary increases, terminations, disciplinary actions, etc.
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years demonstrated experience in manufacturing, aerospace or defense.
  • BS degree in operations management, business or engineering. 
  • Must have the ability to present information and respond to questions from management
  • Demonstrated management skills, particularly “influence management” and “conflict resolution”
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Classified clearance or the ability to get clearance
  • Experience in a Defense and or Aerospace environment
  • Experience with Government Furnished Equipment.
  • ISO9001 Experienced
  • Experience with Contracts Environment; Flow Downs, Specifications, Bids.
  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and retain a security clearance within a time period to be established by the Company
