Job Description

Your new role

We have an opportunity for a highly skilled Linux System Support Engineer to work with one of our key programs in one of Australia’s largest enterprise environments. This role will see you work within a high-performance midrange team spanning a wide range of technologies with a focus on Linux support activities. You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative workplace that encourages innovation, with a work scope that provides a real sense of purpose.

  1. Responsibilities include:
  • System monitoring, analysis, troubleshooting, and the resolution of incidents and problems
  • Supporting the reliability of the systems by utilizing standard procedures and tools to carry out defined system configurations, backups, and restoring data where necessary
  • Identifying operational problems and contributing to their resolution; Finding efficiencies and continual service improvements such as development of scripts to automate tasks
  • Providing technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures and maintain technical documentation
  • Performing security patching activities utilising Satellite; Supporting the provision of proactive and reactive actions of configuration updates

Qualifications

About You and What You'll Bring

Coupled with your professional experience and/or education - you will demonstrate an adaptable, pro-active, approach with the ability to understand the business requirements, identify issues, and work collaboratively to achieve Leidos objectives.

Skills and experience in the following areas will be highly valued:

  • Higher education sector accreditation or relevant industry experience of more than 4 years.
  • Strong working knowledge of RHEL
  • Virtualization platforms such as VMWare
  • Scripting in BASH/Python/PERL
  • Automation tools such as Ansible
  • Knowledge of Windows Server Operating Systems
  • Knowledge of UNIX Operating Systems i.e. Solaris and AIX
  • Experience working in a large scale Enterprise IT environment
  • Working knowledge of ITIL in the form of Change, Incident, and Problem Management

This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and hold a current NV-2 security clearance. This position will be based onsite from Canberra, ACT.
