Job Description
We are seeking a Risk, Health & Safety Manager to ensure that all activities of Kronospan companies are conducted in full compliance with applicable legislative requirements, codes of practice, and industry guidance.
This role encompasses two primary areas of responsibility: Health & Safety Management and Fire Protection. Your key responsibilities will include:
Health & Safety Management
- Establish and maintain ISO 45001 standards, developing and implementing robust safety management systems across all operations;
- Serve as the primary technical authority for managers, providing expert guidance and support on all health and safety matters, including:
- Plant design and safe operational procedures,
- Identification and remediation of unsafe conditions and practices,
- Development and implementation of safe systems of work,
- Specification of appropriate personal protective equipment,
- Leadership of accident prevention programmes,
- Identify and engage competent external organisations to address specialist risk requirements;
- Ensure all Kronospan companies maintain full compliance with legislative requirements, codes of practice, and applicable guidance;
- Co-ordinate and monitor the implementation of company health and safety policies, identifying and escalating improvement opportunities to senior management;
- Maintain ISO 45001 certification status;
- Conduct thorough investigations of all workplace incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Fire Protection
- Maintain current knowledge of all applicable local fire legislation and ensure site compliance;
- Ensure all firefighting equipment is fully operational and properly maintained;
- Organise and complete external audits (VdS) as required by the Fire Insurer;
- Drive completion of all actions identified in Fire Insurance audits;
- Obtain and implement current VdS standards for testing and maintenance of fire equipment, benchmarking site performance accordingly;
- Conduct annual reviews of the site Risk Assessment document and submit to Group Risk Consultants;
- Conduct fire investigations on site, prepare comprehensive reports, and submit to Group Risk Consultants;
- Maintain and manage the site Fire Alarm System in full compliance with current legislation;
- Deliver monthly reports to Group Risk Management and senior management;
- Oversee inspections of all fire protection facilities (weekly, monthly, and as required) with rigorous attention to detail;
- Liaise with third-party contractors during planned shutdown and critical maintenance programmes;
- Plan and organise external and internal audits;
- Promote a strong fire prevention culture across the site.
Qualifications

- A senior position for a senior profile (minimum 5 years of experience as H&S Manager),
- Be willing to work on your own and with your team,

- Excellent organization,
- Previous experience in an industrial company required,
- Strong experience with Fire Alarm Systems, Spark Detection Suppression, Sprinkler Systems, Gas Suppression Systems,
- Fluent in English and in German,
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain a high level of performance.
