Company Description

For more than 20 years, KordaMentha has supported businesses through some of their most complex matters and opportunities. Founder owned and led; we are an advisory firm that helps corporations, financiers, lawyers, private investors and government clients to grow, protect and recover value.

That’s what we do, but it’s how we do this that makes us who we are.

Proudly independent, strategically local, and with a bias for action to get things done, we focus on doing what is right by our clients, our people, and the wider community. Our track record shows that we help navigate the best path forward in challenging times, and do so across cities, regions and territories.

In the most stressful or demanding environments, we continue to drive change where it really counts.

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and capable HR professional to join our fast-growing Brisbane office and partner closely with leaders across the firm. This is a hands‑on business advisory role where you will act as a trusted advisor to Partners and senior leaders, supporting them to build high‑performing teams, manage complex people matters and align people strategies with business objectives. You will work across the full employee lifecycle, combining sound judgement, commercial insight and a strong understanding of culture, risk and capability.

Reporting to the Associate Director, People and Culture and working closely with the broader People and Culture team, this role is well suited to an HR professional with solid foundations who is looking to step into a broader, more impactful role.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist employees with pragmatic, commercially focused HR advice aligned to business priorities
  • Coach and support leaders on people management, workforce planning, engagement and performance
  • Identify emerging people risks and opportunities and provide practical recommendations to support sustainable performance
  • Enhance onboarding experiences to support early engagement, productivity and retention
  • Embed performance management frameworks that promote accountability, development and high performance
  • Support leaders to manage underperformance, development planning and career progression
  • Provide guidance on employee relations matters including performance management, grievances, complaints, investigations and exits
  • Ensure employee matters are managed consistently, fairly and in line with legislative and firm requirements
  • Oversee key lifecycle processes including parental leave, flexible work arrangements, secondments, role changes and exits
  • Monitor changes in employment legislation and translate these into practical, business‑focused advice
  • Analyse people metrics and trends to inform decision making and continuous improvement
  • Contribute to workforce planning, role scoping and recruitment decisions in collaboration with Talent Acquisition team members
  • Contribute to People and Culture projects and initiatives that strengthen capability, culture and operational effectiveness

Qualifications

You are a confident and credible HR professional who is looking for the next opportunity to grow and develop your expertise under strong mentorship in a fast growing and complex environment. You enjoy partnering with senior stakeholders and balancing strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery.

You will bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or a related discipline
  • Up to 5 years demonstrated experience in a relevant HR role, with exposure to professional services and complex stakeholder management environments
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian employment legislation and contemporary HR practice
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex employee relations matters
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trust at all levels
  • Strong analytical capability, with experience using data and insights to inform advice and recommendations
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment

Experience contributing to firmwide initiatives, change programs, HR systems or workforce analytics will be highly regarded.
