Job Description
Konecranes is looking for an experienced Automation Engineer with expertise in Siemens PLC Programming, Simatic Step7, and TIA Portal to support the development, commissioning, maintenance, and modernization of automation systems used in advanced crane and port solutions globally.
The role offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge industrial automation, PLC control systems, commissioning, and remote support for large-scale automated equipment across international locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and implement new functionalities in existing automation systems.
- Design and execute upgrades for legacy PLC-based systems.
- Perform PLC programming, testing, troubleshooting, and optimization using Siemens Step7 and TIA Portal.
- Support commissioning activities for automation systems and industrial equipment.
- Provide technical support to Production, Service, Sales, and Training teams.
- Deliver remote troubleshooting and support to crane installations worldwide.
- Analyze and resolve automation system issues to ensure high system availability and reliability.
- Interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and circuit diagrams.
- Adhere to company quality, environmental, and safety standards, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements.
- Be willing to travel globally at short notice to support commissioning and service activities.
The role is based in our office in SP Infocity, Pune – but it goes without saying that the remote & hybrid working is a part of our modern ways of working.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree holder in Electrical / Automation / Computer Science Engineering from reputed university.
Experience
- 4 to 6 years of hands-on experience in PLC Programming and Industrial Automation.
- Experience in automation system development, maintenance, and commissioning.
- Exposure to industrial equipment automation projects is highly preferred.
Technical Skills
Mandatory
- Expert-level experience with:
- Siemens Simatic Step7
- Siemens TIA Portal
- PLC programming, debugging, and troubleshooting
- Industrial automation and control systems
- Commissioning of automation systems
- Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and circuit diagrams
- Experience with MS Office applications
Preferred
- SAP experience
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as:
- PROFINET
- PROFIBUS
- Modbus
- Experience in crane automation or material handling equipment
