The Square Point of Sale mobile applications are the main entry point through which merchants work with Square. The XPOS Core team in SPOS builds core features such as settings, navigation, and Sales Reports that our sellers work with many times a day. As a Full-Stack Software Engineer on the team, you will report to the engineering lead and work with us on our dashboard product and building APIs to support features within our mobile applications.

You Will:

• Work with your fellow engineers to ensure that Square is delivering remarkable experiences to end-users;
• Develop engineering designs and implementations of impactful end-user product features;
• Maintain existing services and help them scale and improve to meet the needs of merchants;
• Help the team refine existing and establish new engineering patterns and processes to provide a thoughtful development cycle.

• Ruby/Rails experience
• Interest or experience with one or more of the following types of systems:
  • Full-text search systems (Elasticsearch, Solr, Lucene, or similar),
  • Streaming systems (Kafka, Flink, Beam, etc.), or 
  • Other distributed systems/databases
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining complex systems at scale
• Strong programming foundations (we use a lot of Ruby and Go, but we believe that good programmers can work in any language)
• Enthusiasm for remote collaboration (our team is distributed!)
• A commitment and drive for quality, technical excellence and results.
