The Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is part of what helps differentiate iStreamPlanet as the "Leader in Live."  This is a software engineering position and specifically not a QA, dev-ops, or de-facto advisory role. We build solutions which ensure iStreamPlanet's rapidly evolving platforms scale seamlessly to deliver thousands of concurrent television channels to millions of consumers. We drive simplicity, elegance, and reliability by harvesting insightful systems data, then using it in results-oriented experimentation. The rich data set we gather increases transparency across our engineering teams, helps iStreamPlanet isolate clean solutions opportunities, and enables all of us to take a hands-on role in delivering self-correcting, autonomous broadcast video solutions. When hardware, software, or infrastructure falter, SRE ensures iStreamPlanet's engineering solutions continue operating at quality. We exist to make a big impact.

To deliver results, iStreamPlanet SRE employs a combination of open source packages, libraries, and services, commercially hosted 3rd party tools and services, along with software we build in-house. What You Will Do and Learn:

• Partner with peer engineering teams throughout the full software development lifecycle.
• Design, analyze, and troubleshoot fault-tolerant, distributed systems. Provide fellow engineering teams with systems design and scalability expertise.
• Continually improve customer outcomes through quantitative service monitoring, alarming, and direct code improvements to our services.
• Contribute expertise in Unix/Linux operating systems internals, administration, and TCP/IP networking.
• Promote a cross-team culture of operational excellence and customer obsession within iStreamPlanet.

 Skills & Requirements:

• BS degree in a Computer Science or equivalent.
•  4+ years of commercial software development experience in distributed cloud services.
• Experience in one or more of the following: C, C++, Java, Python, Go, Perl, Ruby, or shell scripting.
• Ability to debug and optimize code and automate recurring and/or routine tasks.
• Passion for dev-ops, continuous improvement, nurturing a sustainable post-mortem culture, and commitment to driving down live-site overhead using a systematic problem-solving mindset, strong collaboration skills, and an eagerness to take ownership and drive.
• Ability to obsess over customer needs and demonstrate customer empathy.
