Company Description

IOTA Group is looking for an experienced FPSO Topsides Structure and Weight Control Engineer to join the teams of a leading international energy company and contribute to a major ultra-deepwater FPSO development.

Designed to operate at approximately 3,000 metres water depth, the FPSO will have a production capacity of around 160,000 barrels of oil per day and will be connected to up to 40 subsea wells.

The position will initially be based in Paris, followed by potential assignments in Singapore and Geoje, South Korea, throughout the different phases of the EPSCC project.

Job Description

As FPSO Topsides Structure and Weight Control Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the structural integrity and weight compliance of the FPSO topside modules throughout the EPSCC phases.

Working closely with the Topsides Structural Lead, contractors, vendors and multidisciplinary engineering teams, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor and validate structural design and weight control activities performed by contractors and vendors.
  • Ensure the evolution of topside weight and centre of gravity remains within the applicable marine and structural constraints.
  • Review contractor deliverables, including structural drawings, calculation notes, finite element analyses and lifting or marine operation reports.
  • Track and validate weight data and centre of gravity evolution using dedicated weight control tools and registers.
  • Support the Topsides Structural Lead in managing technical interfaces and ensuring compliance with project specifications.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews, including 3D model reviews, HAZID and HAZOP sessions.
  • Coordinate with process, layout, piping, marine and other engineering disciplines.
  • Interface with contractors and subcontractors to ensure constructability and compliance with structural and weight requirements.
  • Support the management of deviations, design changes and anomaly reports related to topside structures and weight control.
  • Contribute to the traceability and consistency of structural and weight-related technical decisions throughout the engineering phases.
  • Promote and comply with all applicable HSE requirements and Company safety rules.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in offshore structural engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in FPSO topside design and weight control.
  • Previous experience in a client-side role within an EPSCC project environment.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software and dedicated weight control systems.
  • Good knowledge of international standards, including API, Eurocodes, ISO standards and marine classification rules.
  • Strong ability to review structural calculations, engineering deliverables and weight control documentation.
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills within multidisciplinary and multicultural project teams.
  • Fluent English is mandatory.
  • Ability and willingness to undertake frequent missions and international relocations according to project requirements.

Additional Information

  • Initial location: Paris, France, for approximately 1 to 2 years
  • Future project locations: Up to 18 months in Singapore and up to 18 months in Geoje, South Korea
  • Starting date: 1 October 2026
  • Initial duration: 12 months, renewable
  • Potential overall assignment: Up to 4 years following FPSO contract award
  • Working schedule: Resident position, 5 days per week
