We are currently looking for a Wellsite Geologist to support offshore drilling operations in Suriname.

Job Description

The Wellsite Geologist will supervise geological operations at rig site in close collaboration with the subsurface team and operational personnel on site.

The role will cover well operations and acquisition program follow-up, coordination and supervision of contracted services, real-time data QA/QC, basic real-time interpretation, and post-well analysis.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supervise geological operations at rig site
• Ensure proper follow-up and interpretation of geological acquisitions onsite
• Supervise geoscience service companies, including mud logging, M-LWD, E-Logging and coring activities
• Ensure the security, integrity and quality of well data acquisition
• Support safe operations through real-time identification of drilling hazards
• Ensure application of wellsite procedures and standing orders related to data acquisition and safety
• Provide clear and relevant reporting from rig site operations to the local office
• Ensure proper communication between mud logging / wireline personnel and drilling crews
• Participate in the identification and evaluation of drilling hazards such as losses, gains, overpressure and swelling clays
• Perform real-time interpretation of mudlogging, LWD and MWD data
• Follow geological surveillance activities, from shows and cuttings descriptions to final composite logs and well reports
• Support coring point definition, intermediate logging decisions and drilling section TD / casing point decisions
• Attend daily and weekly rig site meetings
• Supervise contractor performance for geological operations services, including equipment, spare parts, consumables and crew performance
• Participate in pre-job meetings before drilling sections and specific operations
• Prepare the End of Well Report and ensure proper distribution
• Ensure proper dispatching of rock and fluid samples from rig to base

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Wellsite Geologist on offshore drilling operations
• Strong knowledge of geological operations at rig site
• Experience supervising mud logging, LWD, wireline logging and coring services
• Good knowledge of real-time mudlogging follow-up, including gas data and drilling parameters
• Experience with M-LWD data QA/QC, validation and interpretation
• Ability to support well trajectory follow-up, geosteering, reservoir entry / exit detection and drilling phase decisions
• Strong understanding of drilling hazards and real-time data interpretation
• Ability to prepare high-quality geological reports, composite logs and end-of-well documentation
• Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with drilling, subsurface and operations teams
• Strong HSE culture and proactive attitude toward safety reporting and stop-card systems
• Fluent English required

Additional Information

• Location: Paramaribo, Suriname / offshore rig site
• Working schedule: Rotational 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off
• Working time: 7 days per week, 12 hours per day during rotation
• Start date: September/October 2026
• Duration: 24 months
