Company Description

We are recruiting an experienced NDT QA/QC Lead for a major onshore LNG construction project in Mozambique. This is a senior site-based leadership role responsible for overseeing all Non-Destructive Testing activities, ensuring compliance with project quality requirements, international codes and standards, and radiation safety regulations. The position serves as the technical authority for NDT across the construction phase and works closely with project QA/QC and welding teams.

Job Description

  • Lead and approve contractor NDT quality plans, ITPs, procedures, and technique sheets.
  • Oversee NDT activities including RT, UT, PAUT, TOFD, AUT, MT, PT, and VT.
  • Verify and authorize NDT personnel qualifications in accordance with ASNT or ISO 9712 requirements.
  • Review and approve NDT examination results and radiographic/digital interpretations.
  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety requirements, source security, dosimetry, and controlled-area management.
  • Manage NDT-related NCRs, root cause investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Monitor and report NDT KPIs, including examination coverage, repair rates, and inspection performance.
  • Coordinate NDT schedules to support construction and commissioning milestones.
  • Conduct competency assessments and support training initiatives for NDT personnel.
  • Manage NDT equipment, consumable, and certification traceability systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Materials, Metallurgical, NDT Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years of NDT QA/QC experience within Oil & Gas, LNG, or major industrial construction projects.
  • Minimum 8 years in a Lead, Supervisory, or Management-level NDT role.
  • ASNT Level III certification in RT and UT (mandatory), or equivalent ISO 9712 Level III certification.
  • Demonstrated experience with advanced NDT methods including PAUT, TOFD, and AUT.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME, AWS, API, and relevant ISO NDT standards.
  • Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) or equivalent radiation safety qualification.
  • Proven experience reviewing and approving NDT procedures, qualification programs, and contractor deliverables.
  • Experience managing NDT performance reporting, quality metrics, and NCR resolution.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills within multicultural project environments.
  • Fluent English required; Portuguese and/or French would be advantageous.
