NWP Welding Engineer

Company Description

Our client is developing AGUP Phase 2, a major upstream oil and gas project in southern Iraq as part of the Gas Growth Integrated Project (GGIP). The development includes approximately 221 wells, a new Central Processing Facility (CPF), and associated pipeline, flowline, piping, and structural infrastructure to support production of up to 210 kbopd. The project is being executed to international standards with a strong focus on quality, HSE excellence, and long-term asset integrity.

Job Description

  • Ensure all welding activities are performed in compliance with project specifications, approved procedures, applicable codes, and company requirements.
  • Review and approve WPSs, PQRs, and welder qualification records.
  • Monitor field welding activities, including fit-up, welding parameters, consumables, heat input, and workmanship.
  • Coordinate with Construction, QC, NDE, Contractors, and Vendors to ensure quality execution of welding activities.
  • Support welding qualification, testing, inspection, and audit activities at fabrication yards and construction sites.
  • Review and assist in the resolution of Technical Queries (TQs), Deviation Requests (DRs), and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Assess contractor welding performance and identify opportunities for quality and productivity improvements.
  • Ensure welding traceability, documentation, and records are maintained for project quality dossiers.
  • Promote HSE compliance and safe welding practices across all work fronts.
  • Provide regular reporting on welding performance, issues, and risks to project management.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree in a relevant discipline or International Welding Engineer (IWE/IIW) qualification.
  • Minimum 20 years of Oil & Gas project experience.
  • Minimum 10 years in a Welding Engineer or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of API 1104, ASME, DNV, and other relevant welding standards.
  • Proven experience with welding procedures, qualifications, and field supervision activities.
  • Solid understanding of pipeline, flowline, piping, and structural welding.
  • Experience working on large-scale EPC or construction projects in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent English communication skills; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
  • Willingness to work on a 4x4 rotational assignment in Iraq
