Company Description
Our client multinational energy operator is developing offshore oil fields in Suriname (notably Block 58). The project focuses on deepwater production, aiming to boost reserves and output, with first oil expected before 2030. We are currently recruiting for a Site lifting supervisor to join this project
Job Description
- Provide day-to-day expertise in handling and lifting operations on site
- Categorize lifts, identify hazards, and conduct risk assessments
- Review and approve lifting procedures and complex lift plans
- Select and evaluate suitability of lifting equipment and contractors’ equipment
- Conduct toolbox talks, post-job debriefings, and job assessments
- Promote safe handling and lifting in line with Total HSE policy CR EP LSO 043 and international standards
- Oversight of pre-use inspections for forklifts, cranes, and rigging equipment
- Perform condition checks and fitness-for-purpose assessments on lifting appliances and CCUs
- Provide expert advice on lifting and handling operations
- Conduct random inspections of affiliate road transportation contractors for safety compliance
- Report unsafe work conditions/practices and ensure corrective actions
- Track and submit Shorebase & Associated Yards HSE KPIs
- Participate in handling and lifting audits, and review/re-issue generic lift plans
- Develop and maintain subsidiary handling and lifting procedures
- Assess personnel competence and provide coaching, mentoring, and training guidance
- Advise on workplace safety, health, environmental compliance, and security concerns
- Conduct daily site inspections and facilitate JSA/Pre-Job Hazard Analysis with vendors/contractors
Qualifications
- Proven experience in lifting, rigging, and handling operations in industrial or logistics environments
- Strong knowledge of HSE standards, risk assessment, and lifting procedures
- Ability to review and approve complex lift plans
- Familiarity with Total HSE policies and international safety standards
- Competence in inspecting and assessing lifting equipment, forklifts, cranes, and rigging tools
- Strong reporting and auditing skills for safety and operational compliance
- Excellent coaching, mentoring, and training abilities
- Willingness to work rotational schedules (6 weeks on / 2 weeks off) and travel as needed
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide expert guidance on workplace safety, environmental compliance, and security concerns
