Job Description

Primary Function of Position

Support daily Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) operations by assisting in the development, review, and execution of key safety programs and compliance processes. This role contributes directly to the prevention of workplace incidents through effective risk assessment, permit-to-work administration, contractor management, and support of EHS training activities.

Essential Job Duties

  • Assist in the development, review, and updating of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for operations, engineering, maintenance, and support functions.
  • Conduct field validations of JSAs to ensure accuracy and alignment with actual job tasks.
  • Support the identification of hazards and ensure proper documentation of controls.
  • Review, validate, and process EHS permits.
  • Ensure permits meet regulatory and internal requirements prior to authorization.
  • Verify that required controls, equipment, and documentation are in place before work begins.
  • Review contractor documentation and verify compliance with EHS requirements, ensuring all documentation is complete.
  • Support onboarding and orientation processes for contractors as needed.
  • Conduct field checks to ensure contractors follow established EHS procedures.
  • Assist in coordinating and preparing specialized EHS training sessions, ensuring all materials, attendance sheets, and documentation requirements are met.
  • Maintain training records, rosters, and required compliance files.
  • Assist in inspections, audits, and follow-up actions related to regulatory and corporate compliance.
  • Maintain EHS documentation, records, logs, and reports as required.
  • Participate in incident reporting, investigation support, and corrective action tracking.
  • Provide customer service–oriented support to internal clients, helping address EHS needs promptly and professionally.
  • Collaborate with EHS Specialists to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other EHS-related duties as assigned to support program compliance and operational safety.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.

  • Strong judgment and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to understand and apply EHS procedures, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.

  • Ability to maintain accurate records and manage documentation.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff, contractors, and regulatory representatives.
  • Basic understanding of risk assessment, hazard control, and EHS compliance processes (preferred).

Required Education and Training

  • Certifications in LOTO, Working at Heights, Confined Spaces, Hot Work, First Aid/CPR, Emergency Response, or similar — preferred.
  • Associate Degree (AS) and 1–3 years of EHS experience preferred
  • English language skills preferred for future development opportunities.

Preferred Skills and Experience 

  • Experience supporting EHS compliance programs.
  • Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (NOM-STPS, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
  • Experience working with contractors or permit-to-work systems.
  • Basic data analysis and reporting skills.
